I have to take my kid for his shots later

He is going to have a complete spaz, I just know it. I have kept putting it off but he starts kindy next week and his immunisation schedule must be complete. I am so dreading it!

Are you dreading it for him? Or cause you don't like needles? Or you don't want to see your little one in pain? Or all of the above?
clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

Not for him, cause it really doesn't hurt very much, although I KNOW he is genuinely scared because his baby brother cried a lot after his shots last year.
I don't mind needles at all myself, and my eldest son doesn't either and he is only 5!
What I am dreading is that I have to go in there with all 3 kids and I just KNOW it will be a big scene at the clinic. I have bought some JellyBellys as an incentive to be brave.

I don't doubt it! But he will scream his head off nonetheless!

Hmm that does seem like a potentially hectic situation....I will send a prayer to you and your jelly bellies.... smile

i hated taking my babies in for shots disbelief of course its better than the alternatives.... but still sad

having people hold down my baby while they are screaming and not being able to do anything to help them cry that breaks my heart...

sad

I remember I cried when they stuck a shot in my behind. It was scary and painful. My mom bought me a happy meal after. lol

Sometimes it helps a little bit if you can distract the child with something, while the doctor is both preparing the shot and then administering it - a book, a game, whatever; get the child preoccupied and laughing and not paying attention to the shot situation.

Lots of hugs and cuddles always help, too, of course. smile

Best of luck to you and your little guy.

Already done! We are all eating the said Jelly Belly's now YUMMY I like the piña colada ones! Wish they had margarita flavour sigh

Anyway, the nurse was so quick she jabbed him before he realised and he howled only for a minute! He got to hold the box of JBs the whole time which helped. He behaved himself really well! (he is 4 btw, not really a little baby anymore though that is what he acts like most of the time!)

All done! woot! I thought it was going to be really bad, when the nurse asked him to sit up on my lap he said "NOOOOO!" and it was looking bad for a second there!

My kids had to get two shots when we moved to Texas. They had their second shots last week. They both did fine. My girl is in kindergarten and she cried a little before the shot, but stopped crying within seconds.
