Like other people have probably already said, that "I'm fine as hell" attitude of yours might not go over all that well. 
Another reason is that people get intimidated by beautiful people. It's better to look "averge-plus", i.e. good enough to be appetizing but not so good that you seem beyond reach. It makes sense, in my opinion. | |
