I once read about a man who got a new tattoo every time I major event occurred in his life. He had emigrated to another country so then he tattooed something from the new country on his arm, he had a child so he tattooed her face on his chest near his heart, etc. I found that very intriguing. You could basically read his whole life story on his body. No matter what new phase he would move into or which new visual styles he would come to appreciate, these major experiences would always be a part of him and therefore deserve their place on his skin. Do your tats mean anything special to you, Carrie? Or maybe you're just dead certain that you will find them equally stylish twenty years from now? The cherry bombs are an inside joke with a friend of mine...it's kinda naughty actually. The lips on my ass stemmed from a dream I had after I watched nip/tuck. Anyone ever see the episode where the old lady had her labia put into her lips on her face? Well I didn't see all of it and I went into a dream about her getting fat from her ass put in her lips...so I woke up wanting lips on my ass and seeing how my best friend has the best lips ever I used her imprint. She later got mine on her ass. The tribal was my first tattoo when I was 17...I got the flower in the middle and I just wanted to make it prettier. Now that I know really great artists they know so much more and know how to make it pretty and make it stay nice and fresh for a long time. The next one I get will probably be a memorial to my brother and I may do my feet...one side dad and one side mom. Oh and the one on my back was a spur of the moment thing. It was the first tattoo I got from my boyfriend and I'm thinking of turning it into a japanese theme with a Geisha girl. [Edited 1/23/06 18:16pm] | |

It sounds like a cool idea, but what made you choose the feet? Are all other good spots taken or does it have some significance (i.e. your parents have provided you with a good platform to stand on, or something)? Right, I've heard about that quite a lot; that people decide to add little details here and there to an old tattoo and voilà! - it's suddenly a brand new one. The most interesting example of that I've ever seen was an old man on the subway who had a big rose on his arm. I noticed that the rose was kind of funny-looking and then suddenly I saw what it was - it used bo a swastika that was now covered up by the petals... | |

They're divorced and they both hate tattoos so they will just both bitch about them instead! I'm choosing my feet because they can be covered up. I don't want to do anything visable on my legs or arms, my back is taken and I like things to be symmetric so the feet are perfect for that. | |
