Going Deaf! (Update) I think I may be going deaf!
I have yet to see the doctor. (My parents have demanded I go!) I dont know if I just need my ears syringed or what? Prolly falling over and hitting my head too often in the past. I hope its just the former. Has anyone experienced this before? ~~~~~ Just seen doctor, and I have fluid in my ear, it can be caused by an infection after flu (which I have just had) so he has given me some antibiotics, which I will take for 2 weeks to see if that will clear it up. Thanks for your posts and kind advice . [Edited 1/16/06 10:37am] [Edited 1/20/06 4:28am]

I have minimal hearing loss in my right ear due to a cousin letting a firework off near my head & a mixture of target practices before I bought proper ear protection. Its a lil odd, I'm 25 and people have to speak a little louder than I ever hoped at such an age. But yeah, go see a doc, it may just be u need a professional cleaning.

I had a car-accident when I was 15 in which the bones around the hearing-system were fractured (part of the skull, in fact). Right after the accident I had a major loss in my left ear, but now it's ok (90 percent). Having some troubles with the high tones. Worst part of it is that I will always have a buzzzz in my left ear, comparable to what you hear after you stood next to the speakers at a concert.

OMG thats horrible!!! It isn't, in fact The buzz is annyoing, but my ears are really ok now. Having more problems into overcoming my fear caused by traffic. But that's a psychological thing. I have very bad eyes, and that bothers me far more. Btw, Redfeathers, go see a doctor. It's very important to know what's going on, although it's a bit frightening...

WHAT?!? News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Same here! I have been losing part of my hearing at a steady rate. Abusing my hearing with loud music and concerts never helped much. Tkae care at concerts and stuff. I find myself not liking certain clubs becuz of bad acoustics, rendering my hearing useless. People talking away from me... I have to ask them to face me at times. People often comment on how loud I talk, but I sometimes don't notice how loud I am talking. It's a hassle.

This could be a blessing in disguise. It might be a build up of wax. Save it and hey presto!, you have yourself a candle.

Its not wax, just fluid behind the ear drum.. Is it both or just one? Does your ear really hurt but when you press on it the pain seems to subside? I'm curious because I have this problem. I think it might be something internal.

I know you have had ear trouble before, the doc showed me a pic Basically my ear is clean of wax, etc in the ear, but the ear drum is kinda see through, and he could seee a build up of fluid, now this usually passes through the eustachian tube, but my eustachian tube is a bit inflamed from infection from the flu, so there is a build up there (hence the deafness). The antibiotics will cure this and my fluids will pass nicely down the tube again lol sounds all a bit personal me discussing my bodily fluids here

Seriously though, it's the same problem as before but I've never gone to get it checked out. Just simple grin and bared it. The problem is, with it coming and going, the doctor is only going to say treat it with olive oil. I've tried this and indeed it sooths it, but the problem remains.

Maybe you should come see my doc he is very nice..

I always wonder how people dealt with this kind of thing before modern medicine... same with dentistry... I guess their friends presumed they were deaf while their teeth fell out.

Good to hear (no pun intended)that you're okay and your condition is treatable.
I have had some hearing loss. I know it's because of all the concerts that I've been too and all the clubbing I have done. I'm seriously considering wearing ear plugs when I'm out dancing. I could never imagine myself NOT being able to hear music. That would be the death of me. I have a bit of ringing in my ears from music--my own & others'--and it's made me very aware of protecting my ears. I wear custom ear plugs that reduce the noise but don't muffle the sound like cheap ear plugs. I love them.
Last night I talked on my cell phone for an hour straight, and the thing is always too quiet, too loud, too quiet, too loud etc. This morning it seems like my hearing is fucked up in that ear. I assume it's temporary, like a concert experience, but I never thought that would happen from the phone. I hate talking on cell phones anyway, I think I'll stop entirely. Check this song out at:
