Steamed Hot Dogs! I finally found a place here in San Francisco that actually serves steamed hot dogs. I couldn't believe it. All the places here grill em and I hate them grilled. I also don't trust any street vending hotdogs either. But lo and behold this weekend I came across a joint that makes em. They actually toute themselves as a "Chicago Joint"/ Jewish deli. With names of the Hot Dogs like Wrigley Field, Skokie Swift, The Evenston...:toughched: I got a little misty eyed. I ordered the wrigley Field which has mustard, relish, onioins, tomatoes and a pickle on a poppy seed bun with sport peppers (another thing we seem to not have up here). It wasn't the greatest...the pickle was very small and they had no fries at all to order...but it was certainly yummy and better than grilled. To me the best places to get hotdogs in Chicago...

The only place I'm able to find steamed hot dogs is New England. They also have the "skin" that is missing from most hot dogs.
Unfortunately, last summer when I was in Maine, I went to visit the same hot dog stand that's been there since I was a kid... and it was gone. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Is a "steamed hot dog" like a "chili dog" or a "dutch oven".
Sorry, I just had to take it to the gutter. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits" | |
