I brought a xmas gift from a company here....paid for it by credit card (over the phone) and they mistakenly put $4000 on my card (supposedly)...
I didn't realize until I got my bill...at which time I rung them ( u could say I was kinda cranky with them ...putting it mildly) ..and they promised to credit the money that day plus interest but it may take 5 days to show as a credit.....
So I ring the bank a week later...and no credit has been received ...so I put a stop on it....(which means the bank will investigate and it may take up to 105 days) ...
I rung the company again today ...and a answering machine said ...This company has been declared insolvent right now I have no idea if I will get the money back .....

I think based on what happened the bank or credit card company would be understanding. Good thing you put a stop on it though.

Well, with most credit cards (or at least the ones that are legitimate), if someone stole your credit card and spent $1,000 on it...and you reported that it was stolen and now there are charges on your card that aren't yours...the bank issuing the credit card most times will not make you pay for the charges, as long as your claim is valid. I can't imagine a company being able to legally take $4,000 extra off of someone's credit card and not have it returned...you didn't purchase $4,000 worth of goods, so...
