Nixzmary Brown's tragic life of unimaginable physical and emotional agony ended at 4:30 a.m. yesterday (Jan. 11 2006) when the 7-year-old's battered body was found in her Brooklyn "house of horrors." The second-grader had been bound to a chair, tortured, sexually molested and starved for weeks before being killed by a savage blow to the head - even after child welfare authorities dismissed charges of abuse.
In what cops are calling the worst child abuse case in a decade, Nixzmary was beaten with a belt without mercy because her stepfather believed she was "wild," police sources said yesterday.

Trapped inside a makeshift, barren bedroom, Nixzmary missed weeks of school - and was forced to use a cat's litter box as her bathroom, sources said.

She stood 45 inches but weighed only 36 pounds - less than what a 4-year-old should weigh. The medical examiner determined Nixzmary died of head wounds and the accumulated injuries of years of beatings.

Last night, investigators carried a small wooden and metal chair from Nixzmary's second-floor apartment. White twine - apparently used to bind the girl - dangled from the chair.


Apparently what prompted this fatal beating was that the stepdad became enraged that she ate a yogurt from the fridge which he had bought for one of the other kids.

What an absolute horrible story...

Yeah it was all over the news, made my heart drop....I can't understand why her parents would hurt her like this. They have monster on the front cover of the newspaper with her fathers twisted ugly face. When kids are not being abused, the kids who are rude and get a little tiny slap ...they are taken away and nothing is being done about the kids who are really being abused.

i know from the horrible precious doe story here, when the step father's face was finally let out, it made it more horrible to see. somehow seeing the FACE of the man that killed her, looking at his eyes, seeing the evil behind them... it just makes it more horrible.

I don't remember much, her grandmother was shocked when she went to see the girls body...so many bruises. She went to school with a black eye, noone said anything and she had a cut on her head. She screamed mommy, mommy a few times after she was beaten, her mom ignored her cries and she died soon after.

I hate these kind of stories i try not to read them especially when it involves babies or kids ,i saw on the news a couple photographed themselves raping a 16 month old baby..i can't understand the evil in this world.

these women should not be called mothers, how dare they use that title for such trash.

They lived in Bed Sty...that's some serious housing projects right there. They're the jump off already...with or without some asshole beating a child. Her mother obviously had some crazy issues too.

Brooklyn has more than its share of stories like this and worse

and people say god exists.

and people say the devil doesn't exist.

It's such an unbelievably sad story. It's been dominating the news for most of the week here and it keeps on getting worse and worse. I can't believe that with all of the signs, no one would have tried to do more to help this poor girl. It just saddens my heart to keep hearing this. Something has to be done with ACS, the child services that looks at child abuse cases here in NYC. Plus, teachers need to get more involved if that is at all possible. Such a damn shame.

Where were those damn case workers when I was a child.
