I don’t know if she’s the “best”, but, for me, the meanest is that bitch from “The Rescuers”. I know that Snow White’s step mother asked for her heart in a box, and I know that Cinderella’s step mom locked her up, and that Cruella killed puppies – but I still have to go with “The Rescuers”. When she makes that little girl go underground to get the jewel – that scene stays with me and I haven’t seen it since I was, like, seven.

i wanted to mention something along those lines too...but i didn't wanna say anything to muddle the thread...but they always appear darker too..i unno if that's to show their "dark" character or whatever...just thought i'd put that out there

OOH! and my fave villain is SCAR....so sexy nod
and sher khan

I heart Scar!

But he is darker than the other lions, and British, which is weird. And in the Lion King 2, all the "bad" lions have that dark colouring....hmmm

I can see that.

The one "dark" lion turned out to be a good guy at the end though, so that was a bit of a different approach to the disney standard, i guess. On the other hand, he was drawn with the softer features of the "good" lions, so that should've been a giveaway.

Next question: why are so many Disney villians bony? Are they trying to say skinny people are evil? hmph!

That's more myth than fact, tho...take a look:

Snow White

Cinderella

101 Dalmations

Sleeping Beauty

Beauty & The Beast

Little Mermaid

Tarzan (on the right)

Pocahontas

Emperor's New Groove (on the left)

Hercules

Hunchback of Notre Damn (on the right)

Mulan

These villains are no darker than the rest of the characters in the film, although on occasion they are a color that is less "flesh-like" (for example, Hercules and Mulan)...and on several occasions the villain is almost pasty white (Emperor's New Groove, 101 Dalmations, Sleeping Beauty)...there are a few movies in which the villians are definitely darker (The Lion King as mentioned, as well as Alladin), but the overwhelming majority of Disney villains aren't any darker.

You could say the same thing about Disney heroines, too, though...lol

Snow White: dark hair and brown eyes
Beauty & the Beast: dark hair and brown eyes
Alladin: dark hair, eyes and skin
Hunchback of Notre Damn: dark hair and skin (not sure about the eyes)
Hercules: dark hair and eyes, slightly darker skin
Lion King: Ok, so she's a lion..lol..but she's definitely not blonde. wink
Pocahontas: Kinda obvious
Mulan: Dark hair and brown eyes
101 Dalmations: dark hair and brown eyes
Emporer's New Groove: dark hair and brown eyes
Tarzan: dark hair and brown eyes

Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid had heroines that didn't have dark features of one sort or another, but even then Ariel had red hair at least...lol..Again, it's more perception and myth about Disney's "good" characters having light hair, eyes and skin and their "villains" all having dark physical features. You'd be on more factual footing if you went with villains having certain facial features such as larger noses and lips...but even then it's more about being "pointy" than it is about being large (points tend to be associated with devilish horns, so villains tend to have more points to their facial features to subconsciously convey "evil")...

By the way, I attended art school where about 80% of all Disney animators graduate from...lol...so I got a bit of inside info on how these artistic decisions are made.. smile

I think that Maleficent is by far the most evil one personally which in my humble opinion would make her the best smile
JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...
