You have to read the follow-up story.
What propmted the stepdad's final outburst was that she grabbed a yougurt from the fridge which he had bought for someone else.

Apparently, the grandmother described the mother of Nixzmary as "abused" -- what utter bullshit. At least the poor little girl is in a much better place. I would love to give the mother and stepfather a good beating and have them experience 10 times the pain that poor girl felt. Those assholes --I hope they rot in hell.

This story mad me so SAD! I CRIED while reading it! HOW CAN ANYBODY DO THIS TO A CHILD? They SHOULD be EXECUTED as CRIMINALS and SAVAGES. So Many PEOPLE WANT and CANNOT HAVE a CHILD.....These MONSTERS and ESPECIALLY the STEPDAD is UNHUMAN..... CHILDREN are GOD's GIFT. PRECIOUS and MUST be NUTURED and LOVED...NEVER HURT! NEVER ABUSED!!! NO EXCUSE EVER...Better to PUT INTO ANOTHER HOME Than ABUSED and KILLED.....ALWAYS LOVE YOUR CHILDREN....ALWAYS BE GENTLE and KIND with YOUNG PEOPLE WHOM MUST LEARN BY GOOD EXAMPLES. BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL 4 YOUR CHILDREN.....SHOW LOVE and COMPASSION TO ALL! Peace and Love.....Zel

what is it with these women who don't protect their children from their boyfriends/husbands?

it's like they would rather be in a relationship than have healthy, happy children. sigh

I hate when something as tragic as this gets condensed into some trite explanation or reason for its occurance...Saying that "Apparently what prompted this fatal beating was that the stepdad became enraged that she ate a yogurt from the fridge which he had bought for one of the other kids" is insulting. Yogurt didn't have a got-damn thing to do with what happened to this poor little soul...what a superficial take on a significant event. disbelief

Oh, please...claiming that things like this wouldn't happen if there really was a God is intellectually dishonest. It would be like having a fire extinguisher in your home, and still having it burn down...then saying "And people say that fire extinquishers exist"...

If you believe in God, then you also believe that He's given us all the tools to create a perfect world and environment in which to live...as well as given us the free will to either use those tools or ignore them. We can't blame anyone but ourselves if we choose the latter.

i heard an illustration once. a man was getting his hair cut, and the barber and he started talking about religion. the barber said he was an atheist. the customer, a christian man, asked why he believed there was no god. the barber said that if there was a god there wouldn't be crime, violence, etc on this earth. not wanting to get into an argument the customer politely changed the subject.

when his haircut was done and he was about to leave he saw a man standing outside the barber shop. his hair and beard were long and unkempt. he turned around and said "i don't believe in barbers."

the barber said "what are you, crazy? i just cut your hair. you see me standing here. "

"yes, but if there were barbers then there wouldn't be men like this one outside, with hair uncut and uncombed."

the barber said "that's not fair, not everyone comes to me."

the customer replied "and just because not everyone goes to God does not mean he does not exist."

I think that you misunderstood that comment.
This man was a monster who frequently tortured this poor child.
APPARENTLY...what set him off this time...what sparked this latest rage...was that she took that damned yogurt.
Bear in mind also; she was malnourished. She weighed less than my 4 year old. The "mother" (and I use the term loosely) stated recently that she would get in trouble for drinking the baby brother's formula. THAT'S 'CAUSE SHE WAS STARVING!!!!
I'll post the update if I can find it...

sad that upset some kids in my class today greatly. I know they want/need to sell papers but was that really needed?

sigh

The whole ordeal is terrible.

Actually...the newspapers in other countries can be very graphic, showing corpses on the side of the road and stuff.

I can't say that it's "needed"...but it's real life.
I don't mind the pictures of dead people in the media as much as I do pot-heads and skanks glorified on shows like "Viva La Bam", "Real World" and "Laguna Beach".
We're in love with reality on TV, but I guess not the "ugly" kind, eh?
