I went out on a limb with mine. I have a few reasons for my new avie. It is me and not another women. I was sort of dared to do something really out of character for me. I figured- what the hell, I probably will never meet any of you guys. If I do, I am sure they will not remember my ass posted in an avie.
It was sort of liberating to do something new & different for the new year. First time I have ever taken a pic of myself like that.
I think everyone should be free to express themselves through there avie any way they want to unless they offend someone with the pic.
If anyone is offended by my avie- orgnote me and I will remove as soon as possible..

sure. but in the normal course of business we don't expose our breasts and genitals to strangers, right? certainly not when we introduce ourselves. and the issue of female nudity, as depicted in male-pleasing ways (i.e. the large breasts and melon-like butt-cheeks one sees in these avatars has long been considered to be not-so-feminist.

remember, feminists prefer to be appreciated for their intelligence, personality, character and such.

Doing my part to keep it real...
Mine was insprired by me trying to feel better about my body and not feeling ashamed or not worthy. To stop comparing it to the models that we all see with fake parts.
With the new year I am trying to appeciate what I've got and not compare it to the images seen on magazines.
Time to celebrate what we've got and stop putting it down.

i certainly don't have a models body, but i've been told (by quite a few actually) that my ass is fine! i've just got to get over the hangups that the media inspires in normal women.

I don't see what the big deal is. Whether women post sexy pics of other women or of themselves, in the end they're just avatars. I don't think we should read too much into it, not because they may not be an indication of something more than just whimsically chosen small pics next to screen names, but because it's a terrible bore to do so.

Mine isn't of me, obviously, but I just really like the pic. The little kitten running through the grass needed a vacation and who am I to deny him that? He's been good to me.

Get with the new feminism, XxAxX! The kind that says I have a choice to put forth what I want. That I am a sexual being in addition to having a brain and character and a personality. That I can be smart and moral AND sassy and sexy and so on and all that I want to be.



I agree there are approriate forums for expressing such things, but this being a casial (as in non business) atmosphere, I think this is one of those places.
