Before sunrise Before sunset

I just saw the 1995 movie Before sunrise
starring Ethan Hawke & Julie Delphy about this guy
Jesse meeting his soulmate, this frensh student Celine
on a train while travelling through europe.
Together they leave the train in Vienna
to share these magical hours together
in the nightlife of the city.
This movie really got to me,
kind of similar way like Lost in translation.
I have yet to see Before sunset but it takes place
10 years after when they accidently meet again, this time
in Paris.I'm gonna see it this week.
Anybody else in here share my love 4 this or these movies?

Same here! I really don't know why I haven't seen Before Sunset yet, loved the first one.
Do you know "Playing by heart"? Kind of in the same vein (a not-too-schmaltzy movie about relationships with lots of dialogue), and I love this one even more.

great movies.....they both touched me!

In Before Sunset there is one scene of the two of them in a taxi in Paris which could have been taken directly out of my life, I always run into these impossible romantic situations as well which leave me quite unhappy in the end.....

Oh, and Lost In Translation got me as well.....both Murray's & Scarlett's characters I could identify with.....the periodical loneliness when everybody thinks you've got it all....

And the type of girl Scarlett played in that movie is the one I'm a total sucker for.....(not only her looks!)

I think my favourite scéne is when they meet
this guy by the river who instead asking them
4 money ask them 4 a word & he'll write them a poem
with that word in it..
They give him the word milshake & the streetpoet comes
up with this beautiful & cool thing

Daydream, delusion, limousine, eyelash
Oh baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet-cakes and milkshakes
I'm delusion angel
I'm fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don't want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we're going
Latched in life
Like branches in a river
Flowing downstream
Caught in the current
I'll carry you
You'll carry me
That's how it could be
Don't you know me?
Don't you know me by now?

I watched them both pretty close together. I liked them both very much. My girlfriend surprisingly, not so much. I guess you have to kind of like the leads to like the movie and she doesn't like Ethan Hawke (he broke up with Uma, so she thinks he's a moron--good point).

I thought he was just fine, and she reminded me very much of someone from my past who I'd like to maybe meet again, just to see what she's doing.

I love 'Before Sunrise' and to some extent I'd consider it my favourite romantic film. The characters are likeable and the script feels very real. It always gave me the urge to go travelling Europe which I may still do at some point.

I was a little bit dissapointed with 'Before Sunset' in that I felt it was too short, yet again the situation and script was very believable.

Yet what I like about both films is that to their credit, both Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are comfortable with these characters and each other. It shows.

Both of these films are very personal to me. God bless Richard Linklater. And Ethan and Julie, of course.

BTW, Julie Delpy recorded an album a few years back that's wonderful...

I wish it was longer, too. Maybe we'll get Before Noon in a few years if we're lucky.

I love BEFORE SUNRISE. I have not seen BEFORE SUNSET.

Why is it that I'm attracted to movies with the theme "We love each other but we can't be together."

Am I a masochist?

I gave this set to a friend for Xmas who loves these films - they do have a loyal following. I remember seeing Sunrise in the theater and liking it a lot. Sunset was a rental, but I enjoyed it - although not quite as much as the first one. Linklater is good!

I love these films!

I remember catching Before Sunrise on this movie channel a few years ago, and I couldn't believe that such a simple film engrossed me so much. I couldn't stop watching. The dialogue was so natural, the acting so believable, and it was just subtle enough to be perfectly romantic.

I was really, really woried about the sequel, but it was also great. Same classic dialogue and acting, and the same fantastic chemistry between the leads. It has that perfect balance of being romantic while still having that mature touch of reality hitting both characters hard. It feels really sad, but it's also able to be hopeful and kind of uplifting despite that feeling of harsh reality hitting you as you watch it.

That's kind of what I've always loved about these films, that they send that message that despite living with all the inevitable problems and harsh realities of the real world, true romance can still exist despite all of that.

I hope they make one last film in another ten years.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I just saw the sequel & her beautiful music is in it!
Such a great movie also & I really love how they use
Nina Simone's "Just in time" in it.
