I just got a new Hyundai Elantra and I love it and it was cheaper than any car listed on here so far, but very well made. It is a GT.

2005 Ford Escape

It's alright. Better on gas than the Explorer it seems (we used to have a 97 Explorer). But the stereo that comes with it is a piece of shit, so I had to replace that. It's comfortable and doesnt rock like a boat like some SUV's, handles nicely. Nothing special really.

woot! I drive a 1995, it has been great! LOVE it. I take back all that bad stuff I said about it being a piece of shit, it was all because of a worn out little piece on the alternator redface

right now I have four cars that receive various amounts of driving

a 1986 jaguar XJ-S this car has a v12 engine, I can't really afford to put gas in it, but it is the most beutiful car I have ever owned.

a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L, this is a nice car to drive, but I am in the middle of an engine swap with it right now, eventually it will replace:

a 1998 ford windstar, it was nice when the kids were younger, but god do I hate driving it.

a 1999 escort this one makes the most sense, reasonably nice to drive with a five speed, good on gas and small. Unfortunately the US does not offer any cars like this in luxury trim.

The windshield wipers are possessed, but other than that it's been a good car.

The windshield wipers go off by themselves every once in a while. It's a known problem that Ford won't fix on their own. confused

Reincarnate

I have two Japanese cars. I think I will always buy Japanese from now on because (touch wood) they've been reliable so far and servicing on the new one has been cheap.

My main car is a Toyota MR2 Roadster 2002. I have had two of these now, both identical but I wouldn't buy another new one. I'll keep this one forever I think - I like it a lot but it's not always practical which is why I need another car for shopping and taking the dog out etc.
This isn't my car but it's similar:

The second is a very old Misubishi (again this isn't my car but it looks like it except that hte car in the pic is a LOT cleaner than mine is right now

It's heavy on diesel, which I don't like but my partner likes having a four-wheel drive.

Scotsman1999

I drive a Ford Focus 2001 vintage, five door 1.6 petrol. Boring I know, but it's the best car I've had - touch wood it's been ultra reliable, and the speakers are pretty good in it. Got it at 3k, and I've now done 45k.

I got it because it was a nice gleaming purple under the lights of the showroom and I HAD to have a purple car!! I later realised that it's just a dark blue in normal daylight. mad

I'm probably going to get a Vauxhall Astra as a company car shortly, perhaps just in time before the repair bills start kicking in on my Ford, so good timing.

I'll be sad to part with it though. Before that I had a Peugeot 306 that had done 20k and the gearbox went on it - 1800 pounds to repair, but I complained and Peugeot paid half. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole now.

Prior to that was a first generation Fiat Punto from '95. 44k on the clock when I got her, and the exhaust fell off after going over some speed bumps..in the most awkward position on the brow of a hill! So kinda went off them too.

However, even the best marques have problem cars - it's just your luck!

Onenitealone - Can picture you as Fred Flinstone with your legs sticking out from under the chassis. lol
