you got the pic! woot!

thanks, but the day just got worse.

a HUGE claim is being denied, the customer is saying that i implied there would be coverage, so i just got a lecture from my boss about it. i spoke with the customer before it happened, and i wasn't as specific as i should have been about what was covered and what wasn't, so if the claim is covered it would be paid out of my boss's E&O policy (errors & omissions) and he'd have to pay a deductible. i don't know if he would make any of that my responsibility or not. and i feel terrible for the customer. they moved to southern US and he was checking coverage for his personal property on his homeowner's policy. the mover's broke everything. EVERYTHING, and they are denying any liability. his entire household is gone, 20 years of marriage ad buildling his household is destroyed. and i feel somehow like it's my fault.

i feel like i'm going to cry. cry

thanks, but this could be REALLY bad for me. if he decides to take it to court or something stupid like that, and presses the point that i implied coverage no matter what the peril (which i didn't, but he could still try) then who knows what could happen?

i once had a job where i had to deal with unreasonable, horrible, evil people day in and day out. this isn't to say that there weren't any nice people but, damn those bad ones just forget that you are a human being, too.

In jobs where you must deal with angry people all the time you have to be able to simultaneously treat them like the king or queen they think they are while being fully conscious of the fact that they are behaving in a totally inappropriate manner. it's hard and i found it soul breaking, that's why i don;t do it anymore.

sigh

hopfully everything will turn out alright for you.

Yeah, he was put through to me because a colleague of mine got upset. You shouldn't have to put up with people like that. It doesn't get you anywhere.

yet at the same time it seems like that kind of behavior is rewarded by society. it you take a fit, the customer service gets better when really, the customer should be asked to leave. people who work in customer service positions have it bad enough but to have to deal with adults who take tantrums like babies is really asking too much. these kinds of people should stop being rewarded for their behavior.

the first lady, the one i originally made this thread about, could not get it through her head that i wouldn't do something ILLEGAL.

"no, i don't think you understand. if your son moved to a different state he has to get his auto insurance there. if we continue to provide him auto insurance it is AGAINST THE LAW!!"

oh my god, don't get me started!

we have another customer, a real A**HOLE!! he thinks that by yelling he's going to get his way. i think we finally got him straightened out though. plus, i'm not afraid to stand up to him. i'll tell him exactly how it is, and he backs down now! lol

giggle we figured that his wife must rule the roost at home, so he has to act all big and macho when she's not around.

where i used to work, we couldn't do that. if a customer was upset and verbally abusing the staff we had to sit there and take it and then call the office manager. The office manager would then reward the evil demon of a client by giving them something free or giving them some kind of credit when they really didn;t deserve it.

so on the plus side they would still be our client but on the downside, they would still act horrible.

i work in a small office, the main agent, me and one other woman. my boss said to basically be nice (you know, not cuss at him, etc) but not to let him treat us like that.

thumbs up!
