Nintendo Gamecube

I just bought a Gamecube. Well, not just but right before Christmas I bought one for the family (claiming it was for the family) since my brother, who is austic, likes to watch. The games are far too advanced for him (my parents asked if they have an Seasame Street titles...no such luck). I'm wondering what people think of Gamecube, It seems to be the least acknowledged of the three systems that came out a few years back (including XBox and Playstation 2) and recently, it looks like the stock of games and assecories in stores is very low. Does this mean Nintendo is coming out with a new system soon? Please post your opinion, pointers, suggestions (like what's a good Mario game?) whatever about Gamecube.

Games we have for the system:

X-Men Legends (by far my favorite...I love this type of action/adventure game)
James Bond Nightfire (can't get into)
Metriod Prime 2 (hard,,,can't get into)
Animal Crossing (for my brother...I thought it was terrible at first but a fun Simsish game for kids)
Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights (might be fun....also for brother)
Mega Man Collection (fun but surpringly difficult at times...I never had the original games but a friend did...I loved Mega Man)
Ultimate Spiderman (supposed to be great, right? Haven't started because I needed a new memory card....which is all new to me)
Catwoman (I know, it was supposed to be a worse game than movie but it was under $10 new...I evantually got into the Gameboy Advance verison)

i am crazy about the Cube. i love the graphics of the machine, crystal clear. there's not a lot of violence and nudity or profanity to be found at Nintendo.

the best Mario game on it is MARIO SUNSHINE. enough old skool play and new cool stuff. (oh and i like playing the MATIO PARTIES too.)

you have to get ZELDA: THE WINDWAKER though. my favourite game. it won best adventure game in some major competitions.

games that are available on other platforms like PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME are cool, and i got that one very cheap.

Mario Cart is a BLAST in multi-player mode. You can have one person driving & one "shooting" which is great for me since I am awful at driving games biggrin

the one thing i liked about the gamecube is that 1st off its cheap and i felt is was well suited for my two younger sons (my oldest has an xbox). plus it has all the mario games which i can't get enough of. now what about this bootleg memory card? i never heard of that. how do i get ahold of one of those?

I've seen "Mario Sunshine" under the Player's Choice games so it's only $20. Excellent! How about "Luigi's Mansion", which was like the first game that introduced the system?

What's a bootleg memory card? The ones I bought are from some company called Intec, so they aren't Nintendo approved and they were pretty cheap. I bought one for five dollars when I bought a big batch of games and I just found a package deal on clearance with another card (which I needed) and a controller....only nine dollars! It holds 59 blocks or something...not sure what that means, though.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Ah the Gamecube! I love it and I don't. The lack of game titles...and adult games is frustrating. I am not a sports fan, so I don't play those either. I will say though that the graphics and controls are easy (hence why many of the games are geared toward the younger crowd). And when I mean geared toward adults, I mean get rid of Mario and his gang..too kiddie looking. However those are their staples and trademarks.

The games I like and can recommend are

MARIO PARTY 4 & 6 - Great multiplayer games. Great for the family. I just wish there was a party game geared toward adults...though the games do take some skill. Skip number 5.

Super Smash Bros Melee - Good multiplayer fighting game

Zelda - Windwaker - If you like good adventure games this one is the best. I found it too hard as my hand/eye coordination is not good...and I don't like the bosses...and trying over and over again to defeat. But it is a great game. I like the puzzles, but not the fights.

Tales of Symphonia - A really good RPG...highly recommended. I could not finish it though.

The SIMS are also on the console and are great as well.

There is a new Nintendo coming out soon, hence lack of titles on the shelf. Apparently they will have all past games online you can download and play.

That one sounds like a lot of fun. I love "The Sims" but want to wait for the price to go down. I've gotten all of my games really cheap so far. I've seen a "Resident Evil" title for GameCube and was surprised considering they really don't carry adult titles (also surprised to see that they carry a "Mortal Kombat" title). Thanks for all the suggestions.

Me too. Gotta get that for my XBox.

The "Mega Man Collection" (for Gamecube, anyway) seems to be hard to find. It's worth noting that there is also a "Mega Man X Collection", which I think features the titles that came out for SNES and after.
