What are you reading?

I am reading 'Black box' by Amos Oz.

So far I love it. Very heartfelt emotions and although letters normally bore me after a while (when they're not sent to me), this time it really fits the structure and the atmosphere. thumbs up!

i just started "love" by toni morrison. i'm addicted to her. this one is about some women who were all in love with one man who used to own a hotel who died(its a mystery as to how he died) years ago. the women are old and each one is telling their story. cant tell you much else. toni morrison is hard to read for me and sometimes i have to go back and reread some parts to get the full understanding but its well worth it. my favorite books by her is 'sula', 'bluest eye' and 'paradise'

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

I'm about to read The Stranger. I know, I know, I should have read it years ago but I just got around to it.

smile

In the meantime I'm finishing up The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again. I've read it a gazillion times. And I always love it.

I'm reading "Confessions of a Video Vixen" goodness! I really feel sorry for this woman. Talk about abuse. I never want to be reliant finnacialy on a man and have to deal with this kinda degrading life. I know lots of girls who when down this path and I'm SOOOO happy I stayed grounded. I may not be sporting diamond rings and rolling around in a Mercedes but I'm glad I have self esteem and a sense of pride in working for everything I have. biggrin

Her name is Karrine Steffans. She was in a bunch of rap videos. Her sugar daddies were some REALLY big names. I just finnished reading about her marriage to Kool G Rap, one of raps firsts, and...ahhh...horrifing...their relationship was just....I don't know...he was terrible to her.

nod Yep. And I have to say I changed my mind about Ice T too. I misjudged him. He still irritates me but what he did for her is incredibly kind and generous. biggrin

The Sins of Scripture, by Bishop John Spong

about how scripture has been misused to abuse people, enslave, justify wars, terrorism, the depletion of the environment, and discrimination, and how we need to take back its true meaning.....just started it.

That's great to hear! I just joined a book group at church and we're to read five CS Lewis works, the first of which is "The Screwtape Letters". I'm very excited about it!
