hmm

Either he's very, very kind...or he wants a little something-something from you.

My sister-in-law just dished out $360.00 to have her alternator replaced.
I hope that it was a GOOD bottle of "something" that U gave him!!!!

Galliano Black Sambuca - is that any good?
only this little plastic thing off the top of it needed replacing, not the whole thing, two metal bits were worn down so much they did not connect any more, and my battery light was on all the time and it was taking 2 days to completely drain a freshly charged battery.

1. I don't really drink, so I couldn't tell you.
2. You're lucky then. I once had my alternator die in the middle of nowhere (South Carolina) during a road trip from New York to Texas. I managed to find an open repair station (it was 6:00pm on a Saturday!) and the guy at first told me $250...then when I came back from the ATM (had to pay cash) he upped it to $400!!!! (He had me by the b*lls and he KNEW it!) At least he fixed it though.

confused

I replaced the alternator in two of my previous cars on my own. MUCH cheaper than having a garage do it.

the part itself was $40 - if you know what the problem is then you can fix it, but what if you have no clue where to begin? sad I went without the car on and off for a month before the brain wave hit to ask the guy next door. My dad had a crack at it, cleaned up all the corrosion off the battery terminals and stuff.
