Good morning everyone. !Has anyone seen the cult Japanese game show called 'Takeshi's Castle' on Sky/Cable? It's a riot! It's a popular TV programme with crazy Japanese folk hurting themselves while doing various hilarious challenges. The contestants are like lemmings! It would be great to go on there with a group of mates. Overall, it's an incredible piece of television.

Anyone else seen it? Have you got a favourite game?...

I love it - it's hilarious!

My favourite game is the one where they have to slide along the runway and get as close to the end as possible. If they don't get far enough, the man comes up and pushes them into the water. If they go too far, they go off the end and end up in the water anyway.

I always chuckle to myself when I see that one.

Takeshi is funny as feck.
Probably one of the only things on TV that can make me laugh out loud.

I love this show. The best bit is when they have to run over the spinning barrels. Or the one where they have to run through the doors except some of them are walls! lol.

I used to whatch it on some satalite station a few years ago but cant get it anymore

It was a cult in Italy, several years ago. The name there was 'Mai dire banzai' (Never say banzai...!)

A true classic

Back in high school, my science teacher would show these tapes she had of Takeshi's Castle from the 80's as sort of an end of the school year tradition. Always a lot of fun... The goony commercials on the tape were a riot as well.

Here in America, they've localized the show as Most Extreme Elimination Challenge and dubbed over the japanese with sub-retarted frat boy humor. That, on the other hand, I don't enjoy watching so much.

bloody americans. I hate frat humour. Craig charles is great as he only comments on what happens, and not much else. Its not intrusive. I love that show. I love how they get hyped up before the trial.

Sometimes they do a karaoke trial, and both the commentator and iam sure no one outside japan, has the foggiest what is going on?

I remember seeing someone win it , but no one seems to know what they win.
It is a very rare thing to have won Takeshis' Castle.

Another game that cracks me up is the where they are all wearing "big hand" suits and they have to dive on the big cards first.

kinda like snap but more dangerous.

there's one where a guy actually makes it across all the stepping stones. pretty impressive.
