I'm like you too ... I never admit to it. Deffinately a closet smoker. Even at work, I walk off the property to light up. Even in the rain.

Two days a week and/or holidays and vacation I don't smoke, and I can be one moody a-hole come Sunday night. Sucks, because I LOVE IT. I really like the smell and that first and last drag.

I still love jogging and smoking hasn't seem to "short wind" me yet. I still know it's not good for you.

I would think you'd have to first start to hate it and that hasn't happened for me yet.

I quit almost four years ago. I used to smoke 40 Marlboro Non-Lights a day. Then I got a cold and found that when I smoked it burned my lungs. I was disgusted at myself because:

1). I couldn't stop smoking even when I was already ill and the smoking was making my illness worse

2). I couldn't stop smoking even when I knew I could get one of 52 varieties of cancer from it

3). I couldn't stop smoking even though the habit was costing me close to £10.00 a day. That's £70.00 a week. £280 a month. £3,360 a year.

I went to my doctor about it and he very intelligently suggested not the Nicorette patch, but the gum. The reason he said this was the best way to stop smoking is that it preserves the hand to mouth part of the habit. In other words you have something to reach for and pout in your mouth whenever you want to smoke.

It worked. I chewed the stuff for 10 months, but I haven't smoked since and I get zero cravings now. Try it.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

I understand. That's just where I'm at. Kinda in the middle of the road right now. Nothing has made me want to swing to quitting just yet.

My wife hates both drinking and smoking although she did both. The trade off is I give her money to go spend a day to either shop or at the salon. She's happy. I'd hear about it otherwise, no doubt.

Getting pregnant seemed to work for my wife nod

Although this is a little critical, granted.

I fully pledge my supprt to anyone who want to give up. From my encounters with many smokers who have tried to quit the key seems to be really wanting to give up. Patches and nicotine delivery pipes are just money making schemes unless you use them just to combat the physical addiction.

You have to be 100% comitted to giving up. If you "enjoy" smoking you are doomed from the start!

mad you know they force animals to smoke to test filter tips, they attach a few to the animal's snout so they can't help but breathe it in. They develop cancers within weeks, maybe even days cry

One hole week without a smoke.
Yesterday i felt as though i could kill for one but i was able to resist temptation.
I went out for a drink on Thursday knowing that it was probably going to be tough and although i could have taken one, I didnt.Im going to stay home for the next few weekends so that im not putting myself in any kind of position where i may stumble.
Good luck to everyone else trying to give up, We Can Do It!!
