oh it's GREAT! no commercials! I still can only listen for about 30 minutes a day (my commute) but atleast now...10 of it's not commercials!
I think I'm going to bring in my small regular radio to work....leave my sirius on in my car...and tune in my radio to pick up the signal!

And I happen to be up this morning, definitely wishing I could have had mine by now.

I listened to nearly the entire show (although I dozed off a few times...hopefully I didn't miss who matched with the announced revalations, which where all pretty wild). It was a pretty good show, but Howard and the gang have done better. I was really expecting more but even Howard admitted he couldn't live up to the hype, but it was good. BTW, the show will reboardcast at 9pm, so if you it's not to late to hear it. I don't want to give anything away, but here are a few, so you might not want to read on.

Penny Crone, who always showed up for Howard's press conferences, now works for Howard 100 News....I love the dynamic between them, so that is a nice addition.

George Takei? Funny as hell. Who knew he would be so open. The whole show could have been just him and the gang!

A bad addition? Bubba the Love Sponge. The last hour of the show seemed to be about him. I'm sorry Howard, but I refuse to give him a chance. He shocks and unlike you, is only about shock (I like the fact that he got caught in a lie about screwing Tabitha Stevens....I hate him already!).

I love that Howard put down the eddict that they should try not to cuss as he doesn't want it to be gratuitous or get boring language-wise... and in the first 1/2 hour he was describing how great even having the satellite radio features are and said something like "All these channels - aren't they fuckin' great!" biggrin

It is SO GOOD to have Howard back on the air! I was instantly happy just hearing the the theme song (the one Rob Zombie wrote for Howard's movie)!!

And I LOVE my satrellite radio! Once i was hooked up and running... I haven't even turned on regular terrestrial radio at all - there are so many amazing choices on satellite!

I Listened to Howard's San Francisco replacement this morning and some lady called in saying how they wouldn't last making gay themed jokes or poking fun at women. She scolded them saying that women & gays were listening. The next caller had to point out who had been in that slot for the last 20 years. The show's positively tame compared to that!

The tone of some of the callers felt like they were missing Howard. It was honest for them to welcome those calls, too.

Isn't that Adam Carolla in SF? I heard he was on in four markets including LA. Howard said this morning that the David Lee Roth show wasn't allowing in any negative calls... which he said was a mistake and would be brave and INTERESTING of Dave to take - making a better radio show. Howard tried to cal into Dave today but Tom Chiusano wouldn't allow the call through. Figures! wink

I don't think so, but he was on for maybe the last half hour (felt like 2 hours, though). And he reminds of Cabbie in a lot of ways.

-Moronic
-Tries to show off his sexual exploits due to lack of talent
-Once bad mouthed Howard, now his friend (since they work for the same station)
-Glums onto Howard's show to promote his own (sadly, this is in Howard's interest, so it might be more frequent, although Bubba is going to Florida in two weeks...Thank God!).
-A total parasite!

I hope that Bubba is short lived and Howard will explain it in a few months with an "Opps". I, for one, can't stand him! If his appearances on the show become more frequent, I'll take a month off and suggest others do the same. Show Howard we don't apperciate his "new talent". BTW, if Bubba was so damn good, why didn't XM or Sirius hire him on their own right away like Opie and Anthony...Excatly!

BTW, any luck getting that Sirius radio? I figured something like this would happen and I wanted it cheap, so I was there After Thanksgiving. I heard Robin say she went to Best Buy because she wanted one for her car and she said they were should out. I might have to kind of cry bullshit on Robin, though, unless she is a moron. Aren't most Siruis's plug and play? Most of the models come with a car kit and you just put the reciever in the car deck (you have to install it). She probably doesn't need a whole new radio...I'm not 100% sure she went to Best Buy....I was at Costco, and they had a lot of Sirius Starmates!

I just heard that on the SuperFan roundup (which I'm starting to like). Thanks for the info...a whole week. That's absurd!

George Takei was a very pleasent surprise and I'm also surprised at how open he is about everything! I figured he was a total prude! I mean he isn't cussing like Artie (although he did read "bullshit").

I haven't heard anything about Bubba other than what Howard said about him, including years ago that he used to bash him, yet it seems like he is obiviously influenced by him...just like all the others...Who will he hire next? ManQueer? Howard did an interview with Larry King where he said he didn't like ManCow because he wasn't real....and Bubba is? I'm not liking Bubba but as long as he stays on Howard 101 (not good enough for Howard 100, huh?) for his measly two hours and doesn't try to become part of Howard's show, I guess it's fine. As for him being shocking, it seems like that keeps changing. First he had oral with only one chick, then two...He gave, she gave? Howard also implied the reason he was kicked off was because he killed an animal on his show. Do we need this?

I tried tonight w/ NO LUCK!! lol I was all excited over the home docking station that also plays IPods BUT they (Circuit City) were sold out of the Sportster receivers neutral Plus that docking station was too expensive, I'm kinda glad I was kept from buying it giggle

The boombox was unappealing b/c of the receiver being sold out - if I was gonna buy it tonight, I wanted to LISTEN TONIGHT neutral neutral

Then I settled on another receiver that needed a home kit (I want it for my car & house) but they were sold out of home kits!!! mad

I couldn't win tonight. Apparently these places get shipments on Tuesdays so I may try again tomorrow or just wait a week. I was so irritated when I left lol but at least I have a better understanding of how it all works & what I need smile

Well, I went with the Sportster receiver and boombox because it's totally portable - not even the S50 is totally portable - but it does play MP3s and has that 3 hour replay feature - stillthere was a porblem withthe home kit so they recalled it and haven't had any out since - people are still waiting to hook those up - from what I hear shrug So now I have satellite at home - in the car - in the office - or on the beach if i want it woot!

If I had a better stereo system at home, I'd probably have gone with a home docking kit - which seem to be selling out quite fast. As it was, I bought the very last boombox at one place and the receiver at another (Circuit City). My only complaint is with allthe antenna and wiring for the car kit - wires tothe cig lighter - wiring to pick up FM transmitter - antenna running in the car and out tothe roof... I'm surprised all these things weren't wireless to begin with confuse

So is there a whole installation process w/ the car kit? Do you have to do it yourself?

And how do you set the 3 hour replay thingy? Like, do you record it right then & there or can you set it to a timer or a specific show?

Damn, maybe the boom box is the way to go hmmm But the reason the docking station thing was appealing is b/c I don't have a home stereo right now so I'd love to be able to sit my IPod in it & play that. I dunno, I hate to buy 50 different pieces of equipment only to have these fuckers come out w/ something all encompassing later on, you know? confused

I feel the exact same way. Watch, it will all be wireless next year and I'll be mad

The car kits are very easy to install - my whole boombox/receiver was too. It's basically plug and play. There are car radios which need to be installed - they would take the place of your regular car radio - but I imagine those ahve a an FM receiver/transmitter also. My Sportster receiver sits on the dash and I boroadcast it out of my car stereo through an open FM channel. Pretty simple.

The replay feature is kind of like TiVo for radio. You set it and it literally records whatever you set it for - you can also pause a live feed and it will continue recording the show so you don't miss it if you have to step away for a moment... or like... if you're ordering your burger at a drive-thru lol

Ahh, SWEET! Thanks for all the info biggrin My hope is that I'll be able to record SOME of Stern's show if I miss the regular & replay broadcasts. I know the Sportster only does 45 minutes but hey, it's better than nothing smile

DAMN, the home docking station does 3 hours though??? drool

I think I'll probably still go w/ the boombox... I think razz

Figures! wink

Adam Carrolla is on another station. They've got some unknowns doing a mix of talk & music--only a local broadcast to the Bay area--on Howard's old station 105.3. It's not too bad so far, though it's not a substitute, nothing could be. I really have no desire to hear alternative rock in the morning, though. I guess gay sex wasn't high on the list either, though.

I've looked for Adam Carrolla but he must end earler because I haven't found him yet.

If I was Dave I'd love to have Howard call in. Why ignore the obvious? Of course it's more interesting & brave to acknowledge the elephant in the room.

not howard related rather sirius related but ..anyway...
I just figured out a cool feature...you know that "memo" button...well say you hear Te Amo Corazon (lol) on Sirius 51. You hit that memo button and anytime Te Amo Corazon is played on any sirius channel it will alert you and show you what channel is playing it! how cool is that?! and there's room to store like 20 songs in memory! only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to edit your memory.....I'll keep you posted. wink

LOL lol I sent more $ than I originally wanted to - but I'm happy with my boombox. I also realize I had very few options considering the antiquated mini-stereo I have in my bedroom (which, next to the car, is where I listen to most of my radio broadcasts and exclusively Howard in the AM.

DAMN, the home docking station does 3 hours though??? drool

I know! And holds MP3s! neutral But the guy I know who sprang for the S50 is very bummed because they STILL don't have the home kit for sale and so he is relegated to car reception only at this point. You just have go with what suits your needs - - I think the technology is a heartbeat behind the demand for all this shit to be up and running and ready...

Good luck! smile

Oh shit, really? I thought that one WAS a home kit confused See, I'm still confused about shit (& I thought I had it solved) lol

I read some reviews about the one that saves 50 hours of programming (!) & mp3's on the Crutchfield site but most of the reviews were horrible! They said you can only hear the thing live when it's connected to the base, whereas the ad makes it seem like you can go jogging w/ the damn thing & hear a live broadcast - you can play something you've SAVED, but it only saves stuff that you've already recorded LIVE. And apparently this one has no home kit yet either sad I was almost sold until I read those reviews lol

I think Sirius should have taken the dawning of Howard a bit more seriously lol Had enough product out there, upgraded shit, I mean this was really THE opportunity to go all out! smile Everyone will trickle in sooner or later but DAMN, Circuit City only got 3 Sportsters in stock today & when I called @ 11a they were already gone hammer
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

disbelief True - Sirius didn't REALLY know the impact of Howard's debut would be, I think. I'm glad you're reading the reviews - also check out any news groups you can find about the products. The boombox got decent reviews, and so far, I'm happy with it. The S50 SEEMS like it's kind of an iPod type of deal - but yeah - it's really NOT portable at all - it must be hooked up to a base to get satellite reception (and record shows) which is why I thought the boombox was a great deal. With batteries - it has it's own power supply and off you go! Like I said - the technology is just a heartbeat behind the supply and demand.

Okay, this week I found Adam Carrolla (who seems to constantly be on commercial, but is funny when he's on) and the local replacements. Between the two shows I've filled my mornings.

Howard's like smoking, three days of cravings and now I'm okay. And like smoking, I can always pick him up again if I need to.

Maybe once they make an all in one radio...

I love the memo feature. It's great when I get a memo right when Howard goes to commerical! A lot of the songs I've memoed are things you wouldn't hear on regular radio and stuff I end up looking for on MP3 or CD. It's definately added to my music library a little. I discoved this really great song called "I Like You" and recently downloaded it to my Ipod (which is offically working).

I wasn't sure how to edit it either but once you get past 20, you will get a message saying your memory is full and you can replace songs (at least that's what happens with mine).

Adam is funny - but WAY too many commercials and sidekicks on his show, IMO.

Gotta tell you, though - while I am ecstatic to have Howard back every morning and the show is better than ever (also I catch the replay in the evenings in case I wanna hear something that happened later in the show) - - BUT and others may back me up here - having satellite radio is AWESOME! The choice of music and news and talk shows is amazing! I am curretnly addicted to the Raw Dog Comedy channel - playing bits of comedians stand-up acts - it's great! I also caught The Wiseguy Show this weekend with Vinny "Big Pussy" Pastore - it's like sitting with the cast of the Sopranos! And the music choices...overwhelming! I literally haven't listened to "testicle radio" in the last two weeks!
