Who Gives a SHIaTsu? I just opened and set up one of my christmas gifts. Yes, I know it's two weeks late. Anyway the gift was a Shiatsu Massaging Cushion by Homedics. It gives a "shiatsu" type massage in your work chair.
I had tryed it out in the store. I really liked it and I am about to kick it off at home when I finish this post. So? Does anyone give a SHIaTsu? News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

My girlfriend bought one last year and I personally think it just hurts.

What's the diff between a shiatsu massage and a regular?

The shiatsu is like a kneeding with knuckels. It is made my back go pop. it does feel a little weird at first, but I wouldn't say it hurts. The box and advertisement says "it makes me feel human again", and I have to say before I knew this pitch it is how I flet. My back and neck were like snap crackel pop. Now I feel really good. The seat isn't as confertable as my handpicked egonomic chair. My fat ass doesn't fit in it as I would like. I also sit up while on the computer, and to use this messager I need to sit back. I'd LOVE something like that, my shoulders and neck are very tense. I would settle for having my boyfriend here though, works just as well

Shiatsu isn't really massage. It's more stretches and manipulation using the practioner's fingertips, hands and body. The recipient is clothed, and is usually asked to wear something light and natural like cotton. The aim is to increase energy flow throughout the body and to encourage better circulation and flexibility. It's different from massage in lots of ways but mainly there is less gliding the hands over the body and more moving the recipient's body into various positions to stretch muscles and meridians, and leaning into the body to stretch and aid energy flow. Meridians are invisible lines that link acupuncture points. A shiatsu practitioner will usually perform a hara diagnosis (they will place their hands on your abdomen, with your permission, to understand which meridians and areas of your body need strengthening with more energy and which may have an overflow of energy and they will use techniques attempt to put it into balance again) but a good practitioner can also see how the energy is balanced within your body just by looking at you. Tongue diagnosis and cupping might also be used in shiatsu, as can pulse diagnosis.

I've got a shiatsu thing that you put behind your neck when you sit in an easy chair and you let it work it's way down your back. It actually feels much better when it is done, now that you've reminded me I will need to use it tonight because my neck and shoulders are killing me from carrying around baby Max more than I should.
