I refuse to ever watch a movie of a person or animal being hurt or killed.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

The question is COULD I watch.... yes. If you mean "could" as in "are you cold hearted enough to"... yes. Would I? Pose this question to me again when/if I've had an honest chance to decide.

If you absolutely have to continue to be ultra-picky as usual, you should at least get your facts straight:

"Beheading videos from Insurgents in Iraq can be considered snuff films since they depict an actual murder"

I have to admit I thought like Mick did, that the movie in itself had to be the purpose of the death or the other way around if you wish. We stand corrected then :honnör: biggrin

Stupid question, but what is a snuff film?

SNUFF FILM: it is a video or movie made around the topic of death. There are Real people that go out and find some darn fool to "party" with. They then take that person home with them. They film themselves killing that person.

A snuff film is a movie of muder.

Not necessarily so. A snuff film is one that is illegal to make yet gets made. This would include films of torture, beastiality, and killings. Back int he day, it mostly meant porn or deviant porn. Or even child porn. though there is a many snuff stuff that are fake..there are some that are not.

The movie 8mm (or was it 15mm) deals with some of this topic.

It was here, on Prince.org , that I found links to many of those AlQueda execution videos...

this topic is evil. It buzzes like bees, has a fetid stink, makes a pit in my stomach and is one of the most inhumane concepts i know.

There are only two ways you know if they do or do not do those type of thing there. One, you are an insider who makes or watches such films. Two, you are a Snuff.

We american's hear all kinds of shit. Those type films are illegal here and often used by police to solve murders.

If something like that had happened here, it would gotten media attention, and everybody would have heard about it.

Only if the media finds out. Many many cirmes and murders do not get reported. For obvious reasons...legal and societal. You don't normally hear about serial killers until they are caught.

I wasn't being ultra-picky. Nice to see you love me so. Peace to your troubled soul.

I understand what you mean, but if it had been videotaped, and circulated around, i think someone would have eventually gone to the police, maybe not to report someone, but to notify that there excist a video.
Before this thread, i didn`t even know there was such a thing. I`ve read about people beating up strangers, and videotape it, but never what we`re talking about here.

Yeah, but the only ones to really see a video like that would be either those that did it, those that bought or watched it or the police. One doesn't just "happen" on these movies...one needs to proactively seek it out.

It is an existance and a reality i can't possibly imagine either. but this stuff exists becasue there are those that are interested. there are many people with morbid curiosity. i wouldn't say it's a good thing or that it's natural, but I can say more people than you think are interested in this kind of stuff.

There's a rumor that the sampled scream on the song Love Rollercoaster is from a snuff film. I heard that on the radio, and they played that part of the song a few times. I don't know if it's true, but I was disturbed by it.

I would never want to watch such a thing. I didn't want to watch Michael Moore's last two films for the same reason. I ended up seeing them (he is not committing the act, so it's different than a snuff film), and those scenes were very disturbing.

The Love Rollercoaster Urban Legend is one of the most widely circulated--and untrue--legends out there. The scream is sampled and is 100% fake. Visit Snopes.com for the full story.

And people, this thread is REALLY getting out of hand. Snuff Films are defined as movies that are solely filmed for the purpose of killing someone on camera. Films that show actual death--"Faces of Death," etc.-- are NOT snuff films in the true sense.

Snuff Films as officially defined, have not been found to exist. You can rest easy.

Definitions of snuff film on the Web:

a movie that shows graphic violence (not simulated), even murder. Lots of people thought that 9/11 resembled a movie when they first saw it happening on their televisions. 9/11 was a "snuff film" with the television viewers as the global audience.
www.oilempire.us/dictionary.html

A snuff film is a film, sometimes pornographic, that allegedly depicts actual murder, produced for entertainment purposes.

Years later I figured it wasn't true, but the fact that I was so disturbed by just the rumor tells me I wouldn't be into snuff--same with actual death on film--ala Michael Moore.

There's a low budget flick called "Snuff" that you might find in a discount bin, especially stores that are clearing out their VHS stuff. The producer basically took another low budget flick that was never released, and tacked on some additional footage at the end to make it look like they pull the camera back and start shooting behind the scenes. Thats when they gang up on one of the actresses and dismember her. It's pretty gruesome, and shot to make you think you just saw a real snuff film.

There's also a series of asian horror movies called Guinea Pig that have some very convincing death scenes, that prompted an investigation into whether or not they were real.

I saw Faces of Death as a kid in the barber shop and Banned from TV in high school. Maybe that's why blood doesn't bother me so much.

Also I worked with cadavers in the medical careers program at the Yale school of medicine.

Or I could just be violent.

Much of "Faces of Death" is recreated footage. At least the first one from '83.

Yeah, alot of those scenes, even in the later Faces of Deaths, are fake. I have to admit though, the one where the guy tried to bungee jump off a builing but the rope was too long, was funny though. So was the one where some strange tribe tied a guys limbs up with ropes and pulled him apart, it was so fake it's silly.

The one that made me ill though was the guy working on a car and it came down on him and severed his leg.

That's the one I saw. I had no idea they faked it. Wow.
