These toys remind me of a song lyric I once heard....
"Thank heaven for lit-tle girls, for they grow up to be G-String Divas." spelling edit [Edited 1/2/06 0:29am]

My sister gets the groovy girls for her daughter...a bit of a pre school version of bratz. Some of the Bratz dolls are cute, then the ones with half naked outfits, no. We'll stick to our groovy girls

They are very disturbing. I was at a Toys R' Us (it's funny, my parents have a Toys R' Us card and the youngest of us is eighteen so I bought a Gamecube so we could burn their reward dollars on games) and they those dolls were all over...the worst are the big baby dolls (like Cabbage Patch Kids), who are wearig this slutty biker clothes! I remember my aunt wanted one for my niece a few years back and they were just kind of trendy and not slutty, but they look very trampy now..especially the babies!

But they are way too mature for kids! I'd consider that they're meant for older teens and adults to collect, but they're actively marketed -- including with a cartoon and DVD series -- for "ages 4 and up." WAY too young, IMO.
People bought my 4-year-old tons of these damn things this Christmas. I'm considering striking a deal with her to get rid of them and replace them with something more appropriate. And in the future, I'm going to flat out forbid people to buy them for her. What REALLY gets me is even the Bratz Babyz are oversexualized with low-rise panties, belly shirts, eye makeup, lipstick and a friggin' beauty mark!... See...they are far worse than the tweenaged dolls! Again, the ones I saw had a biker/leather fetish domintrax thing going on!

My neices got two Baby Bratz dolls for Christmas (no I did not buy them). I was looking at them through the box and noticed the "adult type" underwear that they had on. The one that struck me as inappropriate was black lace with red ribbon across the waist band. I don't know if it was a thong, but I sure as hell hope not. My nieces are only 7 & 8. What the hell do they need to know about a thong??
The dolls are cute and all and I like that they have an "urban flavor", but putting a thong on a child's doll is just bad. That reminds of the pregnant Barbie. When I saw that I was like WTF??? C'mon people, let's let kids be kids for as long as they can be. [Edited 1/3/06 7:46am]

My daughter has tons of these things. My wife and I let her have them, but we don't let her get just any of them. Some are way too slutty, and do have some negative stereotypes that they are reinforcing (we pretty much nixed the whole "Eye Candy" line, since the objectification was a little too strongly promoted in that bunch).
Still, all of her friends have them, and I don't want to make too big a deal out of it, as that just makes the whole "forbidden" thing all that much more appealing. Instead of getting on a soapbox and wagging my finger at her when she wants a slutty looking one, I just start pointing out how silly the outfit is. This usually deters her without making it too big a deal, plus it helps her to learn a little bit about what outfits are just in bad taste. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

The only thing I ever liked about Barbie is that you could bite her toes so they became flat and made her look like a penguin.
Next to that, I only undressed them and was horrified by the unnatural body-shape. Ugly looking dolls. Those are pretty slutty, indeed. But you can argue against so many toys, like Zelaira said. Soldiers and monsters are to me as offensive as these dolls.

My 6 yr old neice, just got the Bratz DVD this Christmas, but she does prefer Barbie dolls and princess and fairytale stories to the Bratz stuff.

Whenever I received a barbie for my birthday, from a friend that didn't know me after all, I started biting the toes immediately. One toe, and ten the other. Hands were ok, but not so much fun. This has caused many dramas. Most of my victims were my sis' barbies. But she made drawings everywhere, especially in my favourite books. dayum did he get a thrashing, and had to save up his pocket money to buy my sis a new one..
