According to the Washington state sex offender registry, there's a convicted child molestor living two blocks from my home. He likely isn't someone I'd care to associate with. However, since I'm a childfree adult, I don't worry about him. OTOH, I would be very interested in knowing if any of my neighbors have been convicted of a violent crime or burglary. These sex offender registries are ostensibly for public safety, yet I think that both me and my neighbors would face more danger from a murderer than the nearby child molestor. (I'm not aware of any children living in this building.)

In regards to Mach's examples of illegal sexual behavior, just like many of the laws in this land of ours (speaking as an American ofcourse), there are a ridiculously vast amoutn of antiquated laws and policies in place that have no bearing on today's society. I particularly enjoyed the one about the no sex with virgins one... what the hell

Obviously DiscoDiva was referring to predators...which by their nature prey upon the weak and less powerful. These animals need to be locked away for a long time. As Jasmine suggested, there are definately instances where these "predators" DESERVE death too! Speaking as a father, I would have "justice" by my own hands for anyone who would prey or try to prey upon my children or loved ones....that's just how I roll
