When it comes to racism, some people just insist on hating SOMEONE.... I grew up in a small suburb city outside of Jackson, MS. I've lived in Jackson now since 1991 but the whole time I grew up in this suburb from 1978-1991, the white people were very racist towards black people, who lived in houses just as nice as they did but kept to themselves in the country. They never made racist remarks to black people's faces but I caught the hell from their remarks because I hung with the blacks.
Anyway, years have passed and that suburb has really built up since more and more people, white and black, are moving out of Jackson because it's becoming too rough. There are even a few blacks living in my old neighborhood out there now. My brother still lives out there and I went to visit him over the holiday. On my way to his house, I noticed a street off one of the main roads that had never existed. I drove down the street to explore and the street led to some low income apartments that had never had this entrance before. The only previous entrance for years had been at the end of one of the residential streets. As I drove through the complex's pothole filled parking lot, the only occupants I saw hanging out were Mexicans, a minority that has been growing in this state in recent years. I didn't want to turn around because there were some really bad potholes so I decided to keep driving until I got to the exit that led to the residential area. When I got to the exit, there was a wood fence blocking it so no one could go through. This wood fence and additional exit to a main road never existed when these apartments were all white, and some of the trashiest whites ever born, might I add. I asked around and heard many people say...."to keep those damn Mexicans out". I thought to myself, "I see nothing's changed out here except the race of the people that they hate". I think the Mexicans should gang up and tear that damn fence down. . . [Edited 12/29/05 13:30pm] Andy is a four letter word. | |
