"book smart" , "common sense smart" or "street smart"--which are you?

from my observations in life:

book smart people aren't usually very street smart

street smart people usually aren't very book smart

common sense smart people can get along with either book or street smart people, but prefer to be around other common sense smart people.

I think I have a fair amount of all of the above.
When I was young my mother always told me I had tons of 'book smarts' but no common sense. confused I think that's a bunch of hooey.
What is the exact definition of 'street smarts'? I've lived in the city on my own since I was 19. I can get myself around and take care of myself. I don't know there's much more to it than that...

I like to read books about common sense on street corners.

lol

I feel like I have been lucky enough to inherit an interest in reading from my mother (book smarts), street smarts from my father and common sense smarts from both. I have the best of both worlds with my parents and I am eternally grateful for that.

Anxiety

i think i was born with common sense smart, or else it was something i had to develop at an early age. book smart? i don't think so. i'm better at retaining ideas than facts, and my memory is pathetic.

street smart? six years in NYC: check. lol

Reincarnate

I don't think I fall into any of those categories.

I can be 'book smart' but can also be gullible and incredibly dense at times.
I can be 'common sense smart' but can also make stupid decisions.
I don't really think I'm 'street smart' at all.

I'm probably more 'emotionally smart'.

pardonme4livin

I got the trifecta me thinks...

I grew up on the streets in Minneapolis (South side baby! headbang )

I am an "A" student in college (even though I am 35) redface

I am common sense smart because I am a"hands-on" logical thinker....which is great for my job as a Clinical Engineer... nod
