Already did and considering I'm not as in love with my Sirius radio as I thought I would be, he'd better deliver a decent show and not just sex and swearing all the time. After hearing Jackie yesterday, I realize what I miss...the goofing on other people doesn't exists anymore! I love that after Jackie left, they were still goofing on Gary, paused for a second and admitted it was because of Jackie's influence! What did you think of the last show and send off...I assume that after Howard gave his speech, they were off the air, right? They weren't going to air the concert or anything? I'm kind of surprised no one cried...I think they were too hyped and it was such a postive event.

I just listened to the last broadcast. I've listened to him off & on for 15 years.

But this break after the old show & before the new one is like when I got sick & quit smoking for a few days. You think, "do I really need to start this up again?"

I'm not sure I'll get Sirius, but I was nostalgic during these last few weeks of reminiscing. I'm a big fan. He offended me many times, but I believe he offends all people equally.

People's distaste for him reminds me of people's distaste for Prince. It's understandable, but I think it's usually a case of just not having heard enough to fully understand them.

I wasn't particularly thrilled with the "we need to nuke the entire middle east" period. I'm glad he turned anti-Bush & anti-war after the FCC turned anti-Howard.

I think I fall into the same Stern fan category as you. I've listened off and on for about 8 years. Some days (especially during the news, toward the end of the show when everyone's feeling a little loopy, they're goofing on the celebrity interviews and throwing in tons of references to things that have happened throughout the show and Fred is just a monster on the sound effects) I've laughed so hard I thought I'd bust a gut.

Then there are other times when I'm so disgusted I have to turn it off. Not the strippers or anything like that, but the racist shit. I will never get the humor of having Daniel Carver on. And the "towelhead" humor offended me too.

But all that said, I listened to the entire show this morning and it was a blast. Really excellent last show.

Yeah, it was definitely all about him and his battles, but sometimes the ends justify the means, or something.

The Twin Cities market was the only radio market where his show didn't go #1. Consequently, it didn't last very long. Radio here is sad sometimes.

This show has been a staple in some of the hardest times of my life. I rank Howard Stern right up there with my all time favorite entertainers, like Prince and Lucille Ball.

Can't wait to hear the show the way it was meant to be....free from the meddling of the religious right and the FCC.

Once he spread out, he couldn't make the claim he was number one everywhere (and as much as people say they like Artie better than Jackie, I don't think his ratings recovered from the whole finding a seat filler process). I don't think he ever did great numbers in Detroit...Sadly, he got beat (badly) by two local clones but their claim to fame was "We're local".

I think that's due to a lot of factors. One of them being that Howard is simply older, happier and mellower. They all are. I think Artie is another factor. He's just such a "good guy" that it's hard to goof on him beyond his drinking and stuff like that. If you'll notice, Howard will never really go deeper than that and really insult Artie the way he would Jackie or Gary. He knows that Artie is still a huge fanboy at heart and is just so happy to have this job.

Howard even went so far as to hire a sworn enemy to work as part of his new army at Sirrius. bubba the love sponge talked all kinds of shit on Howard Stern, imitated his act and Howard declared him a Howard Clone. Then bubba was fired because of a complaint from these religious fuckfaces who don't know how to mind their goddamned own business and he was blacklisted from radio, literally unable to get a job anywhere else because of his FCC troubles.

When Howard signed his deal with Sirrius, he approached Bubba and asked if he'd like to come over to Satelite because he himself knew what it was like to be unfairly treated and targetted by the FCC and the religious right and he could put aside his own ego and ignore their competitive and adversarial past in favor of a greater good. Despite whatever kind of humor you don't like, if for nothing else all the people who claim any sort of fanhood should support this venture because Howard is a class act

Slightly off topic before I forget...they never did play Billy West's "Jackie Puppet" goodbye to the show. I only had E! back then, but the show was top shelf!
