I just saw BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN...OMG (and a question) One of the best movies I've seen all year. I cried and cried and cried during the last 30 minutes of the movie and in the car ride home. One of the most tragic love story movies out there. Heath and Jake were amazing (Heath is defintely oscar worthy!)
HEre's my question for those who've seen it...did you have a hard understanding some of the things Heath said? Basically I have no clue what he mumbled as the last line in the movie when he was looking at Jack Twist's shirt...anyone remember?! If you haven't seen the movie, GO SEE IT! Let the rain come down...17 days....

Basically I have no clue what he mumbled as the last line in the movie when he was looking at Jack Twist's shirt...anyone remember?! If you haven't seen the movie, GO SEE IT! I saw it a couple of weeks ago and come to think of it, I didn't understand some of what Heath said either! All I know was that it was an amazing film. I left the movies feeling so down and NO film has EVER got me like that (it touched home for me of wanting a love so bad). Hell, I almost got hit by a car and then I almost missed my train cause I couldn't stop thinking about it. I think I was depressed for the rest of the night. No one should have to live the way they did, even though they chose to do that. I 2nd what you said, everyone should see this film. Ang Lee did the damn thing with this film. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Heath sounded like one of the HILLBILLY BEARS.
I really enjoyed the movie. All of the actors were really great. Heath deserves an Oscar for this role. He acted with his face, body and voice. From all acounts, this is a very difficult story. I definitely want to give the filmmakers my money, but I don't think I'm ready to see something so painful right now.
I'm glad the film is doing well. I hope it does take some awards. [Edited 12/24/05 21:18pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

He says "Jack, I swear..." through watering eyes and the saddest face ever...
Brokeback Mountain is a beautiful, sensitive, nuanced film. I am deeply touched by the display of emapathy Ang Lee and the cast and script writers put forth. You just never see straight people giving that much of a shit about gay people's lives. It's always just 'tolerance' masking disgust. There is SUCH a committment by these people to bring out the story and the emotional truth of the story. I cried for days afterward, and I still get weepy thinking about it. I read an interview with Ang Lee where they asked him why he chose to do Brokeback Mountain and one of the things he said was "I can't think of anything more different than myself than gay sheep herders in Wyoming in the 60s." Again I am deeply touched by this kind of emapathy it give me hope for humanity (and nothing does that). I want to give Ang Lee a big hug.

OK, I'll admit, I have very very little interest in seeing this film.
I simply can't stomach love stories, and I have a very low romance tolerance. I've always thought of romantic movies (whether they're tragedy or comedy) as underperforming soft porn. That being said, I also think this is an important movie. 11 States in the union here passed laws that openely discriminate against homosexuals, some of which do not even open the door for the possibility of civil unions (how the hell can that be consitutional). America is still locked in a blanket of hetero-centric supposed moral superiority, and unable to get passed the idea that these people actually experience "love", not just bouts of supposed misguided sexual urgers unbecoming of supposed natural laws. It's about damned time a movie on love that just happens to involve two men got this much national attention.
