there was one time i was wandering the east village, and found this BIZARRE antiquities/curiosities shop, and we went in. what initially drew me in was the antique wooden leg in the window, and there was tons of similar stuff, like the antique "skin conditions" set of cards that went with those pre-viewmaster things where you put the cards in, ect.

anyway, my friedn and i were totally geeking out at all the bizarre shit, and i made the comment to her that this place was like john waters meets the sedaris kids, and the owner heard me and said that hugh and david sold a bunch of their stuff to him years ago when they moved to france. none of the stuff in the store was david's anymore, it was all already gone, but he said amy comes in from time to time too.

and my roomate used to work at a gay bookstore in the west village and amy used to come in all the time and buy copies of david's books as presents for friends, and would work different schticks while in there. he said one time she came in and said "i'm looking for a book to buy a friend, i believe the author's name is david... seederis? say-darus?

my favorite amy story he had was one time she came in and he asked what she was working on currently (post-strangers with candy) and she said "just my cupcakes and gun rights"

i love them.
