I just ate COW TONGUE Damn traditional New Mexico Christmas foods. I see this nice pastry looking thing. My mom says it's spiced with clove and cinnamon. I think, "Yum." The stuffing kinda looks like fig newton filling. Halfway through, our neighbor comes over with a bowl of more of the stuffed pastries, wrapped in plastic. On the plastic, it says, "T.G."
I ask, "What's T.G.?" My neighbor says, "It's just a kind of pork." Then I see my mom smirking. "What am I eating?" I ask. "We'll tell you when you're done." In my head, I go through the oddball things I've heard them talk about eating, looking for something that starts with a T. My first thought is tripe, which I like, and I know this is not. "Tongue! I'm eating tongue!" The expereince really did change once I knew. Definitely grossed me out. It was too bad, but I'll refrain from eating any more empanadas. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I cook cow tongue quite a bit. I boil it for 4 to 5 hours add one whole onion and one bottle of vinger. I tastes like tender roast beef and a slice it and serve it has such.

There were a couple of times when I've had a few 'cows' put their tongues in my mouth.
But dat's cuz I was usually pretty plastered.

Depending on how it's prepare, tongue is quite delicious. It is getting over that mental hurdle tho. But what't the difference between that and ground up muscle aka hamburgers? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I have to say that tongue is delicious.....if I don't know what I'm eating. I ate it once and thought, WOW, then they told me what it was.

my uncle lanny (r.i.p.) loooooved cow tongue--i remember when i was living with my sister, and uncle lanny was living in her house with us because he didn't have anyplace else to live (he was a drifter). anyways, one day he bought himself a cow tongue and boiled it on my sister's stove. she was all like "ewwww, don't nobody wanna eat that!" but he was making it for himself. ate it all himself, happy as hell. cow tongue creeps me out--i've eaten pig feet, pig ears (used to love to eat 'em with ketchup when i was a kid), barbecued raccoon, and ox-tail soup, but i can't bring myself to eat cow tongue. it looks nasty when it's boiling...the tastebuds are all popped out, yuk!

I think I have had cow's tongue before, I'll eat most things provided they are not ruberry in texture (sometimes I'll eat octopus and other times I won't) or stinky like kidneys.
