ok, so I dont' watch T.V. alot--actually almost never.
I have like 400 t.v. channels or something and I only watch the history channel occasionally.

Anyways, I downloaded and watched the first 6 episodes of "LOST" and I'm hooked.
It's awesome.

But I'm a little confused. Why is the Polar Bear shot and killed in the second episode, but only mentioned again breifly in the 6th episode?

And, does the show keep you amused, or does it start to get tedius? I'm thinking about buying the first season on DVD.

Well, now you can participate in our weekly LOST threads without hijacking them. The polar bear is just one of many supernatural occurrences on the island. Everyone has the feeling that the island is kind of freaky, and I guess the polar bear isn't a major plot device. But keep an eye out for "hidden" polar bears - in Walt's backstory, I think, there is one in the comic he's reading/drawing or something. It'll probably come up later but for now, no worries. I do not think LOST becomes tedious. I have never become so involved in a TV show as I have in LOST. Catch up over the break, download the eps of Season 2 you've missed, and join us in January! It's a great show; I'm glad you've discovered it!

The only thing I can tell you is that the pace is maddeningly slow at times. Many fans who got "Lost" over the summer and watched the season back to back had a hard time with the weekly episodes as it progresses much slower and the mad mad mad breaks (were on a 6 weeker now).

I used to be a big 24 fan...but for a series grounded in reality...too much impossibly happens in 24 hours. Lost..you are already suspendeing your belief as it's not grounded in reality i.e. polar bears on a tropical island.

I find Lost's pace to be good for me. It's well acted...well scripted...the plot is VERY well thought out too. Beautifully shot. I can appreciate a good story and would probably be disappointed had they revealed everything all at once (we still don't know what caused the crash, where they are, or what the island is...though we have many clues) because then it would NOT be believable (see Invasion, which comes on right after). Those are my thouhgts on this show.

Now what's going on? Hmmm. I'll try and keep it sorta brief...and it's speculation from here on out. I think the Island is half organic and half mechanical. Back in the 70's some sorta Mensa type of high thinkers wanted to create a place where they could form a free thinking sosciety that would explore ESP, Extra Terrestrials, Remote Viewing, Zoology, Electro Magnetism..etc. An experiment went terribly arwy and those folks are stuck on the island trying to either figure out a way off or something entirely else. ANd the people on the plane? Part of the experiment? Not sure yet.

I hope you get more "Lost" I think it's worthy to get into. If you have a ahrd time witht the pace...wait for the DVD sets and watch those.

When I have time there's a really good beach scene where Evangeline Lilly is punanilicious too.
