What did you buy with your FIRST paycheck?

My first paycheck was spent on a fresh pair of NIKE Air Flights, way back in about 89.....

I was quite proud of them.

Sebago & Bass shoes.

My mom used to by me the cheapest, most embarassing, moon walker shoes on earth, and I holes would wear out on the shoes (I literally had several winters where I had to fight to keep my large toe from poking out of the hole in the shoe).

So with my first paycheck (I think I was 15), I bought some expensive ass shoes (well, 70 bucks was a lot of money in the 80's).

Every since them I've had this thing for shoes. I am constantly buying my newphews shoes becuase I don't want them going through the same shoe trauma I went through.

I'm just lucky I was born in america or my mother would have took me out of school and put me to work in a sweatshop for 17 hours a day making 50 cents an hour.

My first paycheck (as in non-cash) was probably spent on CDs, clothes and make-up. I don't really remember. I do remember the very first expensive thing I bought for myself were a pair of green Doc Marten boots. God, I loved those boots. And spending over $100 on shoes seemed like sooooo much money at the time.

That's true. I shouldn't forget. It's just that now I wouldn't think twice about spending that much on shoes. When my mom found out, I nearly got grounded.

It was a knee-jerk reaction. I calmly explained to my mother that it was teaching me a valuable lesson in saving for the things I really wanted in life. Yes, I was that kinda kid. I pretty much raised myself from about 14 on. I got to do what I wanted for the most part and never, ever got in trouble. I think she may have just been picking a fight.

I remember my first check, it was $91.00. I blew it all except $4.00 in two days on cheap makeup, a blouse, a pair of jeans, the movies, two magazines, and fast food. Then my parents forced me to put half of every check in the bank. I thank them for that.

My first pay was when i was 16- it went in2 my bank account- i thought it would remain there- little did i know my mum was drawing it out and giving it to me as holiday money on a day to day basis! LOL she got angry at me for asking where my money was- 'WHAT? You think money grows on trees?' i was like 'but..but..i was hoping to spend that all on somethin cool pout ' mum: mad ... lol

My first big pay packet was when i was 20 actually! I had over $800 from just two weeks at work falloff boy was i happy! I went to Esprit and bought myself a denim jacket (which was in around then), a skirt for work, a top for work, a heart shaped silver keyring (which i actually use to this day- perhaps time for a new one...a nice present to me...perhapz i should go to Tiffanys for my next one giggle not that i can afford it atm lol ) and a bunch of other thingz- i just kept spending till i realised $800 doesn't necessarily last a long time if you keep swipin that EFTPOS card doh! lol disbelief
