I HATE MY NEIGHBORHOOD

Someone stole my goddamned car battery again.

For those keeping track, that's 2 broken windows and 2 stolen car batteries in the past 5 months.

I am sooooo ANGRY right now.

pissed

Yeah North East can get rough but I still say that it is a good property investment because of the location someday the rich people are going to take your neighborhood over and people will clean up.

Out of curiousity how do they steal your battrry? Do they break your windown and then pop your hood or is there another way to do it? You mentioned 2 broken windows and 2 batteries but I wasn't sure if they occurred together or not.

Sorry about the battery though...it's a hell of a day to be dealing with intalling another one.

I'm just on the southside of downtown Minneapolis. (Phillips neighborhood for those who know...)

There are worse neighborhoods in MPLS but it is full of crackheads and vandals...

sigh

What a nice way to start a Monday....

Well, to try and avoid future broken windows, I follow the police suggestion and keep my car unlocked and clubbed. So, I can't win. I'll either have broken windows or an easy access car...

My old car used to have broken locks and there were constantly people going through it but I never kept anything in it so they didn't get much. I can't tell you how many times I came out to a car with an open door or whatever but nobody ever stole parts. I suppose things like alternators and battaries would be easy prey.

if only there were a way to booby-trap your car battery with one of those spring-loaded boxing gloves that would knock the battery thief the fuck out.

Oh kittie, that SUX!!!

Did you file a claim? Was there any music theft?

It's strange that someone would have the balls to do that, thinking that no one would hear or see it. This could be a really stupid question, but could you somehow rig the hood so that it locks? Do you think your insurance will cover it? The only upside I can see is that you'll have a fresh battery for Winter if they do.

I will report the theft to the police. The last battery cost about $60 to replace (thank goodness I know handy straight boys, lol) so if it IS covered by insurance, it would still be under the deductible.

I've thought about trying to rig a lock on the hood or battery, but I'm afraid that would just cause someone to actually break things if they break in.

The battery that was stolen today was just a few months old....there was no music theft as I only have the factory issued AM/FM radio in the car. So far no hood rats have wanted that smile

what i wanna know is why the hell folks keep going after your car, kitty (i'm prolly right in guessing that other folks on your block have had their cars broken into, too)...it's just weird, is it something like the folks who've broken into your car tell other crackheads in the area that it's a prime target or somethin? hmm

a co-worker picked me up. Since I live 1.5 miles from work, that's pretty easy to arrange. Thankfully I don't have any home visits scheduled in the next few days, so I don't NEED my car...
