I laboured in the bath but I was cold and didn't like to lie down, I was trying to claw my way out of the bath and the midwives were saying it was meant to be relaxing in there and for me it was anything but! If the bath was big as a swimming pool and I could stand up and hold the edge during contractions, I'd like it a whole lot better.

NO...delivery room with my first stayed in the room...guess it was a birthing room with my second. never saw a tub or was offered... BUT that could be because with both of my girls I never went into labor had to be indused.

exactly ... a walking bath/pool with a bar to hold onto during contractions !! I always wanted to hang off something every contraction, so a raised bar option would be good too.

I had my babies at home, with a doctor attending, but I really didn't want to try the bathtub birth. I don't know, it just didn't sound appealing to me .Long showers helped though.
I just helped coach a friend who used an exersize ball in the shower because her labor was slowing, the baby was born 30 minutes later. Don't know if it was sitting on the ball or the shower that helped more. Her 12 year old daughter was there too and she says she never wants to have babies of her own but she seriously wants to be a midwife!! You just have to keep trying different things until you hit on the one that works for you. I like the bar to hang from idea,I liked to lean on the wall during contractions. I read this as 'bath tub girths'.
I thought "why would you want to start a thread about that? You couldn't start a worse thread if you did something about celebrity names and genitals".
