hey guys!! just got on and saw all your sweet messages... it's 1 in the morning here, hard to sleep, but i'm going to try...

Hey all, what more can I say? Thank you, thank you, thank you... here's more details:

We've been completely shell-shocked by the knowledge that we almost died, but we're feeling better, bit by bit.

You know, we escaped through the window w/ the help of a neighbor who brought us a ladder... happily, the neighbor next door is insomniac and was up watching TV. It was two in the morning, and F woke up for some odd reason to a cracking sound, the cats crying and the sound of smoke... we were sleeping in different rooms because of F's sneezing and E's cough. So when he crossed the smoky hall and found us both alive, all fear was gone over and he was sure he'd get us out one way or another. He opened the shutters and shouted until the neighbor came.

We still have some trouble sleeping, but things are getting better. Spent half the day in the hospital Thurs as well for smoke inhalation - gladly it wasn't serious. Me & François were worse off than Elektra (we initially went to the emergency room in the morning when she began to vomit in her sleep at the neighbor's house).

Weird premonitions we had: F had marked on a list, before going to bed, "buy smoke detector." Two days earlier, my mother asked F on the telephone, where the nearest fire station was from our house. And I, on the night of the fire, wore a commemorative 9/11 firefighters T-shirt to bed!

To applekisses... you know, we have gone through our fair share of anger too... at ourselves (for buying the house in the first place) and the guy who built the house. He lied to us about so many things... Here he was, a so-called "electrician," and our house burnt down due to his bizarre wiring!! We may try to pursue him in court. The neighbors, who were witnesses to so many of his building short-cuts, think we should...

Are you getting some counseling, applekisses? The little bit I've had has helped me a lot... I'd encourage you to do so, if at all possible. Another question, has this increased your faith, somewhat? I know you are a spiritual person...

Hey everybody...

all is well -moved into new temporary apartment last night, rebuilding should be done sometime by summer... just so happy & grateful to be safe, warm and clean under my own roof. all thanks to Jah!
