Yeah...screw the government either way. I just want to hear them fight again and I think with their being at Sirius, they will be too comfortable to let that happen, sadly.

Part of the fight is being free. And now he can do what he wants to do without interferrence. He won't forget the fight. Howard has the memory of an elephant.

Howard even went so far as to hire a sworn enemy to work as part of his new army at Sirrius. bubba the love sponge talked all kinds of shit on Howard Stern, imitated his act and Howard declared him a Howard Clone. Then bubba was fired because of a complaint from these religious fuckfaces who don't know how to mind their goddamned own business and he was blacklisted from radio, literally unable to get a job anywhere else because of his FCC troubles.

When Howard signed his deal with Sirrius, he approached Bubba and asked if he'd like to come over to Satelite because he himself knew what it was like to be unfairly treated and targetted by the FCC and the religious right and he could put aside his own ego and ignore their competitive and adversarial past in favor of a greater good. Despite whatever kind of humor you don't like, if for nothing else all the people who claim any sort of fanhood should support this venture because Howard is a class act nod

.

I think it's kind of strange that Howard would hire him for what seems like only that reason! You know what I found interesting....Howard mentioned the fact that both Sirius and XM said they would not hire Opie and Anthony if it meant not possibly having Howard and he said don't do worry about that....yet Xm has O&A and Sirius has Stern. It would be a great underdog story to see Sirius become a hit thanks to Howard. Subscriptions have definately went up because of him. It's very exciting that people who have never heard him before now get the chance to for the first time.

If they are die hards, they'll probably break down and buy a Sirius. The funny thing is, I'm sure people are saying "it's not worth it" but will freak out once the show actually starts. Sadly, it will be too late to get the $50 rebate.

To anyone that already bought theirs, what do you got?

Robin & Howard's speeches were badly cut here in the Bay Area. That in itself was like an ad for Sirius.

Last week I was out of town and I looked for the show on the radio. I thought I had found it over & over, but it was just clone after clone!

I liked that they made a big deal out of leaving. It was cool how one person after aonther left until it was just Howard addressing the radio audience for a second. Even though they're continuing, they know it's not quite the same. It might get better, but it's the end of an era.

OK, here's an example of what I hate about him, other than his lewdness and superficiality toward women.

His cohort told some black joke yesterday on an occasion where I was forced to listen and I watched my usually intelligent boyfriend laugh like a braying jackass....

Something along the lines of What do call a black (fill in the word, like minister, cowboy, etc.)?

Answer: A N**ger.

Yeah, that's funny stuff. rolleyes

Plus he's like 51 or something like that, and the way he drools over 18 year old girls is just gross.

Sorry, I'm sure he's great for some, but I find him nauseating.

Yeah, that was pretty good. So after Howard's speech, the show was over, right?

I don't think it was just there....it might have been in general. I think there was a big cut in either Fred or Gary's speech.

I'm really loving this topic. Let's keep it going....

Out of context. They were playing "Stump the Jokeman", a game they used to play when Jackie was there and people are supposed to tell real jokes. I think, I'm not sure, but the guy who told the joke said that answer and he was like drunk or high or something.

I can't get with you on that one, Vinny. Howard does laugh at shit like that, even though he's never made a joke like that himself. I'm not at all comfortable with the way he seems to silently endorse it at times.

That stuff doesn't really bother me because he also allows it to be done to himself. How many times has Hook-nosed Mike called in calling Howard a 'hook-nosed-Jew-bastard'?

Rock on Howard (fuck the FCC) but I prefer XM radio if I'm going to have to pay for radio (which I don't) but I'll still tune in once in a while to the E show (if it's still going to be running).

After a few months of being free and being able to say anything he wants it will no longer be shocking and people will stop listening. Part of the fun was watching him straddle the line and now there will be no line. I predict that Sirious goes under partly because of this deal. It screams of desperation.

I liked Howard but he got his ASS handed to him by the KQRS Morning show in Minneapolis.

I partly agree. I like how they pushed the lines. It forced them to be creative because there were restrictions. But I think even he's acknowledged that it's not really about saying "fuck" on the air. I don't think he minded the restrictions of radio, but he didn't want to be pushed backwards with fines & bleeping 20 years into the show.

Hi Mr. Sourpuss wave Always trying to rain on someones parade...

lol People will not tire of the religious right and the government not being able to infringe on free speech.

Howard was being scrutinized for the most ridiculous shit and he couldn't even read a transcript of Oprah's own show. All this talk about children is nothing but manipulative bullshit.

Kids are in school when Howard is on. Kids are coming home when Oprah's show is on. So if there is something that Howard cannot even read from Oprah's show without being considered indecent, the government has much more work to do. But they would never target a successful black woman.....

Do you have Demand? Is it worth it? I have my cheap cable and have for years....I'm not willing to bend on this. BTW, why was it so easy for Howard to get his E! tapes (even though they are still playing the E! show) yet the radio station is being so dicky about his radio tapes? It's not like they have any use for them.

I got my Sirius radio recently. Not just for Howard, but I'm tired of the lame ass FM crap. There are no good stations on there and I'm tired of commercials.

On another note, I think the PC left was just as damaging to Stern as the religious right. They certainly didn't give him an easy time over the years either.

Uh...they didn't try to take him off the air like the right did. They bitched and complained. The real hit Howard took was when Clear Channel claimed to drop him for content (content that was over a year and a half old when they did this) but it was surprisingly two days after he started letting Bush have it and endoresed Kerry. I remember this very well and I don't think many people aknowledge that...
