They've been hyping up this strike bullshit for the longest. We go through this every few years.

Very true. I really believed that they would strike but it's 12:45 and they haven't come out saying anything yet. If the Transit workers are gonna strike, then they should just do it. I hope they don't but this is so silly.

I'm sure he'll get over it with his $500,000,000 deal.

Personally, I don't think there will be a strike. Right now it is 3:30am in NYC and no strike yet. If they strike, the city will effectively SHUT DOWN and any support the transit workers may have from the general public will disappear because no one will be able to get anywhere.

The average starting salary for train conductors & bus drivers is more than my annual salary and I have an MA from an Ivy League school. They don't have to pay for their health insurance premiums & they get to retire at age 55...I don't really feel that bad for them. It's upper management that's to blame, so why should the public suffer? The MTA is jacked up--first there's a shortage so they hike the fares, now there's a surplus? whofarted They need better financial management!

I took the day off of work--my company (a Federal museum) was talking some bullshit about how Federal buildings are REQUIRED to be open and that anyone who could walk to work should--and you might have to work in a different department (e.g. I work in Education, but if I went to work I might have to serve food in the cafe.) I wasn't feelin' that...

It's hard as hell to travel in Queens as it is. For the non New Yorkers here on the org, you tend to have to take a bus (or 2) AND a train to travel out of Queens. With the Jamaica and Triboro Buses not running after tonight, it's gonna be even worse. Do y'all think there's going to be a strike after Monday night? I would say no but EVERYONE who's involved isn't trying to come to some sort of compromise so I have no idea what's going to happen. Stay Tuned....
