Car Accidents F@cking Suck! I was on my way to the post office to mail Christmas presents to my family at lunchtime today. The roads in Minneapolis are very slippery in spots, because we've just gotten a bajillion inches of snow. The corner I was turning was apparently (I would realize this too late) super slick and I couldn't come out of my turn. So I hit the median and broke my left front axel rod. What's really nice is that I was blocking traffic and got to have people honk at me for about an hour and a half while I waited for the tow truck. Lord knows, I was sitting there just for fun.
Good thing I'm made of money, cuz it's only going to cost $750! I'm thankful that I wasn't hurt and that nobody else was, but damn.

I was thankful for several things during this: 1 - Cell phones - occasions like this are when they come in real damn handy. 2 - Tim. He walked from home several blocks to keep me company while I waited for the tow truck 3 - Clifford Upshaw, the two truck driver. I felt really bad making him work so hard. He'd worked from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm the previous day and was up and at work by 5:00 am this morning. As of 1:30 when he picked me up, he'd not yet had a break. But he was so pleasant that it made the experience tolerable. I thanked him endlessly and told him "Merry Christmas." He smiled and said the same to me. I'm mostly bummed that I couldn't mail my family's presents, but my mom, of course, was more than understanding. nakedpianoplayer said: im sorry

I feel your pain.....I really do. I've been in 4 (no injuries)....I've had my license for 5 years The last one happened on a ramp leading into an interstate....traffic was blocked for like an hour too.....and it was raining. I know people were pissed off....it was like the busiest interstates too. Yeah, I was embarrassed. I gotta be careful too.....we just got freezing rain here last night and it's still on the roads. pray for me looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Yeah, they do. Luckily though, you didn't hit another car or injure anyone. This time last year, I have the fortune to strike a pedestrian. even though I was right and he caused the accident, he still wantedto sue and my insurance company ended up settling with his family (he's a minor).
I feel your pain, Dan. I've had four accidents.

oh no! glad you made it out okay, dan...and yeah, the roads are a bitch today. i walk to and from work, but i always see either traffic backed up to 394 west or see various accidents by my apartment during winter weather. that, and half the businesses that i walk past on any given day don't plow/shovel/salt their sidewalks. that, or they do it but it's totally done half-assed.

And having people honk at you when you couldn't do anything but sit there and wait for a tow truck makes it even worse. Why do people have to be so damn rude? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

they do suck. glad you're ok though. i was once nailed by a woman in her giant SUV while driving my little dodge hatchback. my car was destroyed and hers was, like, laughing at me.
she then decided she was going to sue me, lol! she ran a stop sign in a busy intersection during rush hour...outside of a courthouse...and SHE wanted to sue ME. i think even the judge laughed when we ended up in court. "I had clearance," she kept insisting, "I had clearance!" in front of the judge, i finally asked her, "What are you talking about, 'clearance?' you were running a stop sign, not flying a plane!" anyway, i'm glad you're not hurt (or nobody else for that matter).
