OK, they truly are beautiful in so many ways, but I just never got the hang of them. After using PCs for years and years, trying to adapt to a Mac was just a bit too much for me.

I adapted after literally 20 years (1984-2004). Yes, the first few weeks were a bit rough, but I haven't looked back.

Somebody once told me something to the effect of, "Everything comes in a beautiful and a blah version. You are not a blah person." I think that applies here.

awww... that's sweet. touched

But I had my Mac for 4-5 years and it just never clicked with me. It took me 2 years just to figure out that I didn't have to go to the stupid menu to copy/paste. That whole not having a right-click thing pissed me off for the longest time.
That, and I've put enough money into it for now. The hard drive went for the second time. I give up.

Well, you've certainly given it a fair chance, so I guess I can't blame you. The one-button mouse thing is a minor annoyance, although there are third-party mice that allow you to right-click, and Apple itself is now making a mouse ("Mighty Mouse") that can be used as both a one-button or two-button mouse. In fact, Mighty Mouse is now included with the iMac G5's.

Did they get legal clearance to use that name? hmm

Huh? My PowerBook G4 (there is no PowerBook G5 and probably never will be) runs just fine, and it's not even the latest model. I think it has a 1.0 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, neither of which is anything impressive.

You're not trying to run a bunch of resource-intensive applications such as Photoshop or Final Cut, are you?

I would assume so. They've had enough trouble with this kind of thing in the past... for example, they had to rename a networking technology from "Rendezvous" to "Bonjour," because another tech company already had a product named Rendezvous.

They've also had multiple disputes with Apple Corps Ltd. (the Beatles' company) over the use of the name "Apple." Litigation is ongoing, and a trial date has been set. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...pple_Corps
