I'm seeing this on Friday or Saturday. I've been looking forward to it since I read the short story a few years ago. I cried when I read the story, saw the trailer and heard the soundtrack. I'm gonna be a mess. lol

That poster is HIGH-Larious!

That being said, they've been so honest in all the ads I've seen till this. I'm not surprised they have one image that's a bit ummmm misleading...

lol I'm worried about the poor old chap who might go to see this based solely on this poster. Rude awakening! And, yes, the ads for this movie are very direct. If anyone feels misled after seeing the trailer, they need help...stat!

I am so obsessed with this movie it´s not even funny...

So glad it´s winning all these critics awards, and then the
gg nominations, etc...

I am afraid that all this anticipation turns out to be a
disappoinment when I finally see the film but what the hell...

I haven´t been this excited for a film in my whole life

"Jesus Christ, quit hammerin and get over here. Bedroll's big enough," said Jack in an irritable sleep-clogged voice. It was big enough, warm enough, and in a little while they deepened their intimacy considerably. Ennis ran full-throttle on all roads whether fence mending or money spending, and he wanted none of it when Jack seized his left hand and brought it to his erect cock. Ennis jerked his hand away as though he'd touched fire, got to his knees, unbuckled his belt, shoved his pants down, hauled Jack onto all fours and, with the help of the clear slick and a little spit, entered him, nothing he'd done before but no instruction manual needed. They went at it in silence except for a few sharp intakes of breath and Jack's choked "gun's goin off," then out, down, and asleep.

SO MUCH LOVE!!! Really, anything that brings me to the edge of tears is amazing. Like so many people, I read the book and became obsessed with trying to expose as many people as possible to BBM. I even did a cowboy-themed Trixie at Rocky last week, just to try to get that extra 120 people out to see it.

For those interested, come visit the LJ community wranglers for lots of cool stuff, including, but not limited to, icons, reviews, slashfic, mini-movies, trailers, info on release dates, and fanboys/girls.

I'm curious to know what folks here thought of the Boondocks comic. I found it to be not very well thought out; the author clearly hasn't seen the movie, or he wouldn't have made the quotes be from the trailer. Further, when the line "I wish I knew how to quit you" is uttered, no one is on top of anyone else, so Gramps's response makes no sense. Mostly, though, I found the last one downright silly, as he hasn't seen the movie, so has NO IDEA how a man like grandpa would react to seeing it.

Yeah, rants like that are at wranglers, too, as some of us are a bit touchy about the subject, but mostly it's creative stuff.

On the original topic, I find that poster hilarious, and I hope that many people do go and see it from that. Why? Because it's exactly the sort of people who would not go to see the movie if they knew what it was really about who need to see it.

He's going to be in for a surprise....

I'm a very opened minded straight guy but don't have much interest in this. And I'm sure most people won't, even though I'm sure it's a great movie. Most people's homophobia will prevent them from seeing it. Now I do want to see "Captoe", and he is gay but that just seems like a more interesting story to me. I don't think the big ole' red states are ready for this (not even the blue states are).

I don't know about that. It's in limited release right now, and is doing very, very well. Chronicles of Narnia was the number one movie this weekend and averaged $18,000 per screen. Brokeback Mountain played in five theatres and averaged...$110,000 per screen. That's an all-time box office record. I don't think it's going to do business along the lines of huge blockbusters like Titanic or Star Wars, but I wouldnt' be surprised at all if it did in the neighborhood of $100 million. There's a big buzz for this movie, and it's garnering great reviews.

Geez...do you think they could have exposed their marketing fear any clearer? Imagine you can't even market a movie about gay men accurately. Always gotta play it safe rolleyes

Ok, so it's selling to the super blue cities. I'm honestly not sure how well it will do, but I predict it will make a modest box office take of $30 million, $40 tops! The uber-christians are alredy getting antsy about this and I don't doubt protests at theathers. I look forward to reading some of those reviews (I already saw something from an AP story which shows just how naive and hypocritical those interest groups are on homosexuality. I don't remember the exact quote. I'll try to find it.

All I know is, the media loves a hit and a miss! If this thing tanks, Katie Couric will do yet another story on the culture wars. With "Narnia" opening big, there was a story about the Christian entertainment industry. Is she joking?

Back to the poster, I think they assume everyone knows the story. Isn't that part of the story...that both find wives, marry, have kids (kind of like the making of it...oh, you know Heath and Jake are into each other).

yes it's part of the story because Ennis knows they can't live together in the 60s in Wyoming.

The producers are very much after a big hit, and want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. And the bigger hit it is, the better, I think. So I don't care how they get people into the seats!!!!
