Want to be my friend?

Is it just me or have others noticed that the people with the loosest definition of friendship is the one with the most friends? Be it though they are very loose friends. To me that type isn't a friend at all. The term I use for friendship is so tight, you are more likely to squeze water through a ducks ass then to become my friend. What about you?

What do the words friend and friendship mean to you?
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

For me friendship means to be very close, so I have more acquaintances than friends. I have very few close friends but those I once name friends are friends for all time and I will do ANYTHING (don't call me out on that cos I'd prolly do nastier things than you'd like to hear) in my power to keep them safe. My friends are VERY important to me. I love them. heart

butt seriously... I feel its more important to BE a friend to others without worrying if they're "your fried" -- we're all in this life together.

I would not consider anybody I have met on the internet a friend. I have a best friend, my sister. Aside from her, I have many friendships! And those are the people who I know personally for years.

I have a few, VERY FEW acquaintances. The internet (www) is a source of fun, cheap fun. Nothing less and nothing more biggrin

Reincarnate

I have quite a few friends, mainly I think because I'm a good listener and honest/sincere in my dealings with others.

The list of people I would count on though is much shorter. To me, a true friend is someone I could call any time day or night in an emergency, who would get out of bed and drive for hours if need be, and who would move heaven and earth to keep me safe. That's the criteria I use and I would do the same for them. On that basis I count four or five real friends excluding family.

If you are looking for friendship on the net, you are in for a big dissapointment. I'm not saying it's impossible to find a friend/friendships but here, but unlikely to find REAL true friendship.

With life being busy these days for many and some hardly even have time to go out in the real to socialize, they simply find it easier to just log onto the computer rather than, going home, changing and going out. Some people actually LOOK for friendship on the internet and being it is our everyday interaction with some and communications with other people in the same online community, some really believe there can be true friendship found. just saying smile

I break up people in my life into different catagories/situations

The Acquaintence/Bar Buddy - You know their first name and you may know their last but where they live...who they are and what they do are unknown or you may not know that much about them at all. You very much likely don't have thier phone number or email

The Friend/Accuaintence - I have a lot of these here. Associates, Friends of friends you see often. You have an opinion of them. You know a little bit more about them and will always talk to them when you see them. These people usually elicit a good response from you. You may have hung at thier house or maybe gotten invited to a party. But you don't see them often enough or call them to say what's going on. You care...but not actively.

The Friend - They know you. You hang out. You know about their lives and information more or less is exchanged freely. You will call to say HEY. You will celebrate this persons B-day and them yours. They are a part of your life. When stuff goes down you not only care but will actively help out your friend. You are also yourself around them too.

The Good Friend/Best Friend - You know each others in and out. Think similarly. Finish each others sentences. This person you'll do almost anything for and vice versa. You know somethings' wrong before they tell you. These people are probably the closest to you.

I think there are many levels to friendships and relationships. I have many people I consider myself quite close to. And others who I may not be as close to but know that the loyalty is there. And still other who I don't know all that well, but through maybe a few exchanges have felt rather strong connections. I think in friendship, more often than not, you get back what you put out.
