catch 22

I know it is a book. I know I'll never read it because I made the mistake of reading a book by the same author that was as boring as it sounded. 'Portrait of an artist as an old man'. feeling ill

But my question is, what does 'catch 22' mean in the English language? I know I can google the question but I would rather consult the geek on here.

it means something like a double edged sword, a no win situation, a vicious cycle.

Those three things are not the same to me, but I'm starting to get a grasp... Let's go to Greek mythology geek

Is it...

Tantalus?
Pyrrhus?
The Danaids?

I must admit I never ever saw that, but I immediately fell in love with it. Rodin is fabulous. One has to be a bit closer to it to really get a grasp of the intense emotion, I suppose.

regarding your question about Catch 22, i've picked it up a few times
in the stores but whenever i read a page or two in the store i never,
ever get the urge to buy it. don't know, it just seems like something
i would never finish because it would, indeed, bore me.

The book I read (look at the title yawn ) was giving to me on my birthday by my father, with the words 'by the great Joseph Heller, you know, the one who wrote Catch 22'.

It was his last book. He should have died before writing it. It was really, really one of the most boring books I've ever read. About an old writer, who had one great succes, and was never able to reach that level of popularity again. rolleyes Very inspiring idea. I know it was even more boring than Musicology

I wouldn't say it was Pyrrhus.

It's like making a choice that depends upon another choice, you cant make one without the other. I wouldn't say there was a victory as such.

Catch 22 was required lit for my "contemporary american lit" class... I wanted to die while reading it, I'm not saying it's bad but just that it's not interesting to me...but then I read vamp books shrug
