Damnit Pete. Now you made me say it out loud.

I think Tom Hanks is my favourite actor EVER...

Sigh.

He's smart. His roles are SO damn' diverse you HAVE to be in awe of it.

Forget the duds (Polar Express, Joe vs The Vulcano and Money Pit, to name a few) and concentrate on;

The Terminal
The Ladykillers
Catch Me If You Can
Road to Perdition
Cast Away
The Green Mile
Toy Story 2
You've Got Mail
Saving Private Ryan
That Thing You Do!
Toy Story
Apollo 13
Forrest Gump Philadelphia
Sleepless in Seattle
A League of Their Own
The Bonfire of the Vanities
Big
Splash
Mazes and Monsters

Then remember what kind of people he played. Amazing. He is a canvas directors love to paint on.

Hurray for Tom Hanks!

Okay. I'l admit. I haven't seen it in AGES, last time I saw it was the year of release...

That was 1986! I was fifteen! I might have to watch it again. I remember not being impressed, but hey, I have grown. Maybe I now will LOVE a movie including Shelley Long.

A GREAT comedy actress that never got the movie she deserved after Cheers.

I don´t like Tom Hanks. He is quite bland and unexciting.

I think he was good in Cast Away and Road to Perdition, but that´s about it.

"WILSON!!!!"

you know, that would have been genius acting if i hadn't
constantly been thinking about "Wilson" the half faced
neighbour from "Home Improvement" lol.

everytime i heard Tom Hanks calling out or adressing the
volleyball "Wilson", i was expecting the ball to come up
with a witty intelligent reply

Although Hanks can act in diverse roles.....he always stays Hanks, and that gets boring! And I hate his voice, especially when he screams (which he does a lot!)!

I like his role in Dragnet....that shit was funny.....

Sorry to disagree with you all!

I think most actors play different sides of themselves, unless you get raving lunatics that 'method'-act.

Tom Hanks always showed sides of himself, I suppose, in so many different roles it never gets boring to me. Unles, of course, the director does not how to paint that canvas I was speaking of earlier.

I wish a director gave him a Hannibal Lecter kind of role... he will exceed himself, I'm sure.

Weird, huh? I thought I was tired of him and as repsonse on your post on another thread wanted to front him, then I was pressed hard to find recent roles of him I disliked.

I did not care much for Cast Away, but then again, there were some GREAT performances of him in that movie. I still love the rude awakening when the plane goes down. Í can't watch that without being truly horrified myself every time I see that, most to do with how HE reacts.

Wow.
