well, they got me. a NC state trooper pulled me over for an expired registration. it was kinda exciting, actually, since he had already passed me, then stopped at an exit ramp, let me pass and followed me for a while before finally pulling me over, flashing lights and all.

going to court on 1/11 - should be a blast!

It's been years ago, but I once passed a state trooper on the right side... namely, on the shoulder. I can't believe I did that.

And I actually got out of a ticket! Although he pointed out to me that I merited "reckless driving..." He asked for an explanation. I had one - I'd been thinking a lot about a big racial issue that I was writing about, which deeply troubled me... Amazing he didn't immediately take away my license... just accepted the explanation, and let me go.

I'm sorry to hear that, what's the difference between a State Trooper and a regular policeman? We have Transport police, they police the railways and the underground system. I'm assuming they patrol the roads/highways etc?

yes, they specifically work the highways (i suppose they are state employees, vs. city/county employees).

maybe somebody else can clarify - can ANY police officer pull you over on the interstate?

went through a check the other day and was given a warning for expired inspection sticker... had it fixed that same day ...

pretty lucky here IF i get stopped i usually just get warnings
