Polar Express If you haven't seen this movie yet, I strongly sudgest you do. I just bought a copy tonight, and my wife and I sat there all teary eyed. Gotta love that christmas spirit. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Ugh...I really didn't like that movie. The book was really special for me as a child, and the movie just slaughtered it. The graphics are cool from a technical standpoint, but they seemed too harsh for the story.
I dunno. | |

I dunno. that's cool, I respect that oppion. I have never been one to make a book into a image, so for me it was a real pleaure. I never was taught to read a book. I was neglected in that way among others. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I loved the movie and yes , it did make me feel a little weepy and sentimental . It makes you remember the magic and excitement of Christmas when you were a kid , of course its still a wonderful time of year but once you know about you know who , its not quite the same
And yes , reading books to children is incredible . I used to love having stories read to me when I was a nipper . Incase anyone is interested Starbucks are running a program where you go into schools and read to the little people , its something Im seriously interested in

Polar Express never made it big in Holland, but the movie's trailers seemed utterly dull to me. I am more into older kid's books.
Like I am refusing to brush up my Narnia BEFORE seeing the movie. I did that with Lotd Of The Rings and was SO disappointed... I still like the movies, but just do not think they are half as exciting as the book.

Sorry. I am not going to check it out. Hates Tom Hanks too, lately. I want him to see a bloody serial killer before I ever like him again. I loved Road To Perdition, the arch Sin City, really. Beautiful. I almost liked him again after that. He used to be my fave actor for a while. Horrid thing is, he has not mad emany REAL duds. Even in The Ladykillers (I hate remakes) he put down a solid character, but I just seen TOO much of him. Oh hell, who am I kidding. I love Tom Hanks. I love his wife. I love his acting son. It's an amazing family. I LOVE TOM HANKS. Just hates him on Polar Express.

I loved Polar Express but hadn't heard of the book before I saw it.
The only thing that disappointed me were that Santa wasn't fat or rosy-cheeked enough and the bit where he comes out seemed to drag a little. But, I've watched it 4 or 5 times now and really do love the film.

You don't have to be taught to read a book. It's an urge that's there or isn't there. I could read when I was five and I went to the library and brought five books every week. I stopped liking that my mum told me stories when I was two or three. Her voice was just too whiny... Seriously though, if you don't like to read, just admit it.

Seriously though, if you don't like to read, just admit it. yes, but the point isn't "being read to" to learn. It is the factor that your mum did spend the time that works on a psychological level. You wanted to learn to read your own stories because you mother's voice was to whiny. Her reading to us was nice and then got old so that you wanted to go out on your own to read. If you think it's good on DVD you should try and catch the 3D version on IMAX! Now THAT'S an experience you'll not forget in a hurry.

yes sir, the wife is already checking for the real IMax thearters around he and showing times. Seriously, if you have kids...do take them to that, it's simply amazing. I've seen a number of IMAX films that claim can make you feel like you're 'inside' the film - but this one really does deliver on every level. My partner took me last year as a Christmas treat and it was just...perfect. Enjoy. (Post and let us know what you thought once you've seen it!)

I still don't think being read to as a kid is vital. It may enlarge the appetite, that's right. But still. My boyfriend never reads (or seldomly) and he always whines about how doesn't have the right cultural background. My ex-boyfriend was raised in a family were you can't find one cd or book. Still, he's an avid reader and music-lover. So I think the interests of the individual are still the most important thing.

It was a very cute movie I bought a bunch of movies the last couple weeks and I actually had time to sit down and watch this one with some friends and we all liked it. We also watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dukes of Hazzard which were both really good too.
Can't have Christmas without watching the Grinch tho
