cat question

Another one... now the other cat is gone, my own cat is making me mad...

She never ate too many things. She refuses to eat dry food for example. If you give her only this, she'll refuse to eat for days and just become very anorexical sigh until I end up giving her meat.

Since this other cat is gone she only wants to eat chicken-meat. The salmon and other stuff are not good enough for this lady.

On top of this, she has developed the annoying habit of starting to tear up all kinds of paper (especially exams, tests, evaluation papers from school and important bills) to make clear she wants to eat. I've tried to ignore it, but she continues doing this, until the only solution is to give her her food, the chicken-thing rolleyes.

Those who know something about the psyche of pets, what can I do against this annoying habit?

I really want to stop spoiling her, but if I don't give her what she wants, she only 'eats' paper!

Maybe. neutral

If it is, what can I do? Take her to a cat-psychiater???

She already had these habits before, but they've become worse.

She obviously misses the other cat. Has it been a long time...she may grow out of it. Though not much you can do about her finikeyness. She may just have to eat the chicken...though you can wean her off if you do it right like mix something else in her food. If the behavior persists...call your vet and see what they suggest.

Oh...maybe not a missing of the cat then. Give her lots of attention nod and love. Keep her away from paper. Get a squirtgun.

lol That's funny. You've probably not read the thread about this other cat. It was brought into our home by a strange woman two weeks ago. It had been on the streets for 4 days, so I took it in, and gave it away a few days later. My cat didn't like the other cat at all. So I guess the trauma may have to do with the cat, but she certainly doesn't miss him.

shrug Who knows... maybe it was a rather twisted relationship. Never judge the love of others...

omfg It's driving me CRAZY !! She doesn't want to be hugged, runs away all the time and starts tearing up the paper. I think I really should go to a doctor with her. This is weird.

there is this thing called "felaway" it might come other another name, anyway, it plugs into your outlet, much like those airfreshener things, and it has a bottle of this cat pheromone that attaches to it and is distributed in the air.....I know this sounds insane, but it works. My cat went through serious anxiety when we got a dog, moved, etc. and all her negative habits have disappeared. You won't be able to smell the stuff, only cats can, but it does relieve anxiety, and destructiveness caused by it.

I SWEAR TO GOD THIS STUFF IS AWESOME!

Sorry to hear about your kitty ripping up your things. My only suggestion would be to keep all papers out of her reach so she can't get to them and rip them up. Hope your situation improves.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
