20 for a man: Playa, pimp, high fives all around.
20 for a woman: ho, skank, slut.

If I had had 20 or more partners, I'd still be flying my freak flag high. Fuck haters.

Well, I know this won't be a popular thing to say but there's a good reason for these perceptions. You can't really hold men and women to the same standards. We're different. We, men are naturally wired to go out and bed as many women as we can. Now, if we choose to settle with just one that's fine but it's not necessarily our natural instinct, particularly not as young men.

Also consider that there's nothing to it for a woman to get laid. Men will pay the ugliest "skank" for sex, but a woman does not have to pay. If she wants it she can get it from somebody without lifting a finger. Also, sex is a completely different experience for a man and woman. Therefore, we don't hold men and women to the same standards.

The problem is determining what standards to hold ourselves to-- fuck a society. If I think a woman's a whore for sleeping with any man other than myself well dammit she's a whore. biggrin Then again maybe I think of myself as a hoe if I sleep with a woman when I know I have no interest in her aside from her body. It's all a matter of personal taste and there's really no right or wrong.

Give my you opinion on this please.
A few days ago, I was consoling a friend because her boyfriend broke up with her. He asked her how many sexual partners she has had (she's 23 by the way) and she told him around 18-20. He freaked out about it and ended it.
Does that constitute a high number for a woman, and would you break up with a person if you discovered this, even if you asked?

Here is my take on this issue:

I never questioned HOW you came to be the freak that you must be to be with me...just that I am HAPPY that you are that freak with ME!!!!! evilking

there is a certain amount of truth to it. however, when men try to use it as an excuse, it becomes bullshit. There's biology and then there's personal choice. Too many men confuse the two.

Co-sign. It's only some mysoginistic, sexist bullshit. I'd rather be with someone that is a little more experienced than someone who is new at it. This is only because the new person may not want to settle down right away even though I did.

I didn't say we can't be faithful. I said that particularly as young men our inclination is to be with numerous women. The same may be true for women, but I'm not a woman so I can't really comment there. What I can say is that the experiences and mating behaviors of men and women are different and because of these inherent differences the standards won't be the same-- nor should they be.

No, it makes you a poor reader. I'm talking inclinations, not actions. (I also point out the winking emoticon). smile

Besides, you didn't grow up dreaming of finding that one special girl did you?

Byron

I would never ask to begin with...and most likely, if I have the type of relationship that I tend to seek out, she and I would talk openly about any and every subject anyway, and I'd know more about her sexual history than mere numbers. But in reality it doesn't matter if you truly love someone. As the song goes, "How many came before, it really doesn't matter, just as long as you're the last"

And ideally, I'd think 18-20 sexual partners might be a bit much for a 23 year old to have...lol...but again, hardly matters.

I didn't take offense. smile

I didn't grow up thinking that, no. I wasn't even looking to be in a relationship, in fact.

Don't worry, Mr. wink was not lost on me.

It's way too much for anyone at that age. I wouldn't go near her. Nasty. I don't blame the guy for taking a hike. The woman was obviously not very selective about who she had sex with.

How old are you, Spats?

That's a pretty high number, but no reason to break up. As long as she isn't fucking 18-20 guys when they were together. lol

Doesn't everyone? confused I don't mean from the outset, but it's an ultimate goal for a lot of people, and I don't see what's wrong with that.

I'm in my late 20's.

I don't think any guy dreams of that when he is young. Not a guy in his right mind anyway. That is a dream that women wallow in.

I don't see it as a reason to break it off. However, for the record, that is a high number, the young age makes it more concerning. I mean, I'm not judging, just giving my opinion.
