Not me (except for some minor things), but my grandpa was one of the people who invented the Super 16 film format that is still used all over the world. He also invented a bunch of other things, among others a sea chart with a mecanical arm that points out exactly where you are thanks to a connection with a GPS system. I remember that one in particular since I know how difficult navigating can be and how annoying it is with GPS computer screens.

I had an idea once when our old air-conditioner broke down during the hot season. We had just a sheet on us, which you need to stop the mosquitoes from biting you, and a fan on high, but it was still hot. It struck me how inefficient the fan is, blowing air all over the place. I lay on my back and got the sheet on the end of my toes and made a small space for the air from the fan to come in. The sheet blew up like a balloon or bubble around us and the cool air blew in and was trapped inside under the sheet. It was very cool, but of course I couldn't actually sleep on my back with my feet pointing up like that.

I thought it'd be cool to have a sheet designed to cover you completely from head to toe, but with a special opening at the bottom for a fan to be attached to, to achieve the same effect described above while allowing you to sleep normally. It'd be especially useful for my paralysed brother in law as it would keep him cool and would stop the mosquitoes biting him. There's no air-conditioning where he sleeps so it does get hot in the summer and he's just lying there unable to move so it must get very uncomfortable.

But I have concieved of things other people developed years later.


For example when I first saw macromedia flash object (Back when Flash was on version 2.0), I forsaw it being something that could have programming language capabilities and an effective way of front-ending backend databases across the world wide web.

With Flash 5 or 6, years later, they did that.
