Wow! Y'all liked it? I was disappointed with it but I can see how a kid would like it. I haven't read the book but usually that would make me like the movie even less.

What is your favourite movie EVER?

Probably. I loved it as a little boy. It's the kind of film I'd go and see with my sister. I hope it doesn't make me fall asleep. I usually fall asleep in the cinema.

Its for sure towards the top, though. But asking what my favorite moive ever is, is like asking my favorite album ever. How do you compare the Wizard of Oz to say, My Own Private Idaho? Resevoir Dogs to Breakfast at Tiffanys? I love all sorts of movies, but for so many different reasons. I never read the Narnia books. So I think my perspective is quite different than those who did read them as a child and loved them |

But a FEW films, maybe one, will stand out, right? With me it's Amadeus. I can watch it with AWE over and over again. But I also adore While You Were Sleeping and Ever After, all for other reasons.

Are there any black people in this movie? I see talking goats, pigs, beavers, unicorns & wookies but is there just caucasions in this movie? Even the evil witch is white, correct?

Should there be? I have no idea? I don't know where Narnia is or who Narnia is? I was just curious? Does it take place in the future or just in a fantasy place? PS. There were white people in the Color Purple, Oprah's Sophia character knock the hell out of one. Then she had to drive his stankin-ass wife around because she didn't know how to drive. the NICE ones were in the grocery store and at church . Listen, before we get HOOPLA, I ain't got nothing against black people, okay?
It is just that I heard no one complaining about black hobbits. You can always be OVERLY politically correct. Before you can say 'poodle on fire', Narnia is labeled a nazi regime, Abraham Lincoln labeled racist and all Jews are evil.

I saw it this weekend. It was fantastic. I loved the books as a kid, so I re-read a couple of them before seeing the film. It's a very faithful adaptation. They trumped up the few really dark passages in the story to appease the older crowd, but it remains a great children's fantasy story that adults will enjoy, too. Tilda Swinton, as always, was superb. So cold and fun to watch. Her costumes really were stunning, especially the last one she wore during the battle. Georgie Henley as Lucy was great casting. I really liked her.
People tend to go on and on about the Christian themes in Narnia as if that instantly makes the film propaganda. Yes, some of the references are blatant, but so what? Many great films are based in Biblical allegory. Besides that, many of the themes in the Bible aren't exclusive to the Good Book, so who cares? It's timeless, fantastical storytelling at its best. I'd give it an A- [Edited 12/13/05 8:19am]

Memorabilia Books | All Products ----- User Comments: 117 out of 144 people found the following comment useful:- Narnia thaws out frozen New Yorkers, 4 December 2005 Author: bertsaraco from United States The audience at this afternoon's preview screening of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, at New York's AMC 25 theater in Times Square, broke out in spontaneous applause at least three or four times. It seems that director Andrew Adamson has brought a thaw to normally-jaded New Yorkers as well as to the 100-year winter of Narnia. The movie pulls the viewer into the story right from the opening scenes of war-ravaged England, where siblings Lucy, Susan, Peter and Edmund (wonderful performances by all) are sent from their homes to the relative safety of 'the professor's' country estate where, during a game of hide-and-go-seek, young Lucy hides in the wardrobe only to discover the passage to the land of Narnia. From this point, the multi-layered story of betrayal, courage, sacrifice, redemption and hope unfolds into a briskly paced 2 hour and ten minute adventure that leaves the viewer emotionally charged and thoroughly entertained. The musical score is appropriately stirring and moody. The computer generated creatures are sophisticated to the point where the technology disappears and you begin to accept the performance, and not the special effect! This brings us to Aslan - if the talking lion didn't work, the movie would fold in on itself and go away. Aslan works, however, and works very well. Voiced by Liam Neeson, Alsan is both believable as a 'literal' lion and as Aslan, talking lion, King of Narnia. Aslan's face is expressive and noble, and Neeson's voice acting has strength and dignity. This film succeeds on so many levels, it would be possible to discuss it in many different veins: the direction, the story's surface-level themes, the theological possibilities, the drama, the fantasy, the adventure.... Yes - it's an action film, a dramatic film, a fantasy, a somewhat-dark (yet hopeful) fairy-tale. It has humorous moments and frightening moments, like most truly great 'family' films always seem to have. The bottom line is, this is a film that will leave you the better for having seen it. There's much to reflect on and much to simply enjoy - there's certainly enough to keep you thinking for a while, and that's always a good thing. Aslan, indeed, is on the move! i find that the heart is a risky fuel to burn.
