Angels In America

I'm a bit of a hermit so I'd never heard of this until last night. They showed the first 3 parts back to back so I watched them all. I'm looking forward to the next 3 tonight. It's quirky and I like the writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would've watched all six parts if they'd run them back to back.

What did you think of it? Sorry if this has come and gone and been talked about already. I'm not really down with the kids. A year ago I didn't know who Paris Hilton was. lol I wish I still didn't. But I digress, your thoughts on "Angels In America" if you'd be so kind.

thumbs up!

I love that show. I thought the acting was exceptional, and the writing...I bought the play. So..so good...it makes you laugh and breaks your heart and angers you all at the same time.

i loved it. i felt like it was really dense with meaning, as if i could watch it over and over and pick up tons of things i'd never noticed before. i just can't believe all that came out of one man's mind. some of those monologues are just completely otherworldly. i'd love to get this on DVD someday too - i'd love to study it and learn more about what kushner's motivations were for some of the things he put into the script. i think it's a masterpiece.

thats why I got the "book" so that I could read those lines again..this playwright is extraordinary, and the characters and...yeah, I could just go on..like you Anx, every time I see it, its different..I tried to preach part of it once, and it was useless, because unless you see it, you just don't know...

Really dug it -- it was awesome to see a nuanced, subtle look at the time of my childhood from a different perspective. Great cast -- one day Jeffrey Wright will win the Oscar. I believe this to be true.

Great show. It was great. Just a few days ago, I was thinking about the storyline involving the abandoned AIDS patient and his lover.

I liked this very much, too! I think my favorite moment was Pacino's ending.

you should check it out, especially since you don't know a thing about it. the acting and the story and the pacing is great, you can really get lost in it.

Do I need to shovel up my real-life copy of the transcript? And 'do' something with it, like scan it?

Or do you already own it? I think there are rabid Kushner fanatics out there on the net...

First time I saw it I was SO blown away by it I even had some friends of mine in NY hunt down video's of the play. BAD quality. SIGH...

The movie is SUPERB, of course.

I love Mary-Louise Parker's portrayal of Harper. I think her and Justin Kirk's halicunation/sleeping pill scene together was the best I had seen in AGES...

I just have to echo the statements by those before me. This was truly one of the MOST moving films I have ever seen. The cast was amazing and fit perfectly together. The pace of the film was just right. Wal-Mart was running the DVD on sale a couple months back, I think I only paid like $55 for it. Not that bad. But alas, someone scooted off with it. So I guess its time to purchase another copy. hmm

I went to see the play a long time ago in San Francisco. It was 8 hours long so they had a dinner break. It was incredible!!
I loved the HBO movie too. Emma Thompson is a hero of mine.
