it's bad enough that she put the family cat out two weeks ago and refuses to let him back in (temperature right now--29 degrees!)..she won't feed him despite the fact the poor thing howls all night on the back porch. her three kids are devastated, since they hear the cat howling right on the back porch. i let the cat in the house and fed him, he looked terrible. so i decided to take him with me to my house where i would take him to the shelter tomorrow where they can treat him, put him up for adoption, or worst case scenario, put the poor thing out of his misery. but, he got away when i was putting him in the car and ran back towards my mom's house. i told the kids to leave a bowl of food on the porch so that he could at least eat. coincidentally, my sister calls my cell phone, i tell her the story and she berates me for letting the cat back in the house. it's just a cat, she says. then she says, referring to my two dogs (that i've had for 8 years and 4 years)..they might be your "babies" to you, but they're just dogs to me

Take that cat to the shelter. Maybe the shelter can have her charged with animal neglect.

Some people just don't respect 'animals' as living creatures. They shouldn't have any. No need get angry at your sister however. Some people just don't respect animals as living creatures.
